Make sure your volume is on for incredibly cute noises! Also, please note that she’s also giving us a rare treat of seeing a seal clap! This behavior is different than a trained seal slapping its side; in the wild a seal clap is seal-speak for “I am strong and dangerous! Stay away!” Since she is being rehabilitated for a future release, it is very good that she remains wild and does not seek out interaction with humans. This also shows she is very smart in communicating!
Here’s a recent article about grey seal clapping underwater as a form of communication if you’d like to learn more about understanding them: https://www.sciencealert.com/scientists-caught-seals-clap-talking-to-each-other-under-the-water-on-film )

These Hawaiian monk seals may not be great at business but they can hold their breath for up to 20 minutes and dive more than 1,800 feet! Hawaiian monk seals are only found in the Hawaiian archipelago, endemic to these islands. They are protected under the Endangered Species Act, the Marine Mammal Protection Act, and State of Hawai'i law.
