the other day I had a dream that flight rising released apparel that played music when you put it on a dragon / dressing room mannequin and you could layer them "my singing monsters"-style. and we were all really obsessed with this one purple plant-themed set and kept sharing the outfit (I remember it was on an m pose mirror mannequin) around on tumblr and the forums going "wow why is this actually really good" "sound of the summer??" "has anyone ripped the audio files yet" "I wish they'd put this on spotify" & I don't remember what any of the apparel sounded like at all but I wish this was a real update because 1) it's unbelievably funny how out of left field it would be 2) it's an absolutely Terrible idea

DECAY is a minor godling, the kind that hatches out in swarms and fights its siblings tooth and nail for the right to gorge itself on bigger gods. these types tend to tear each other to pieces in the vicious ascent to power, latching onto power where it seeps out of the pores of greater deities until they're strong enough to hold their own.

occasionally, a god's demise leaves its parasites with nothing left to feed on. the weaker ones flee to find a new host, while the most bloated among them settle to metamorphose, peeling open into a mockery of a true god.

HARVEST is a devout and zealous follower of his own path, whose charge led him to the concept of faith— keeping his own, and letting it drive him to fulfill the true aspect of his charge; his own survival. a parasite engorged on the blood and energy of a god offers its own unique opportunities, and swearing your unwavering fealty to the concept of something greater can sometimes be the difference between power and death.

both of them reside peripherally to The Abscess, where DECAY dropped like a tick off their host, and where HARVEST can drip-feed them godsblood to whet their hunger. a shrine in the eye of the fall tethers DECAY, while HARVEST seeks his own means of survival, always returning.

Some days, I find myself wondering whether it'd be appropriate to talk about this critter outside of tumblr, like:

This is my character and allegedly a Plague/Shadow Everlux, Wet mop Grubby. The scavenger who raised her since she was little thought she'd make a tasty snack, but was ultimately deemed too sad to eat. Yeah, she was named that way affectionately (she refuses to change her name into something more appropriate for a dragon). She is a minor and subconscious shapeshifter who's very confused about what she is beyond being "some wormy thing" (she thinks she has no magic whatsoever). She also can - in a just as minor way - alter how others perceive, remember and feel towards her, and so accidentally drove an entire clan of dragons into despising her as much as she despises herself (a lot - she's very depressed).

Nowadays, she's very much a shut-in that only goes out of her lair/house to take a swim on hot days, getting her wool trimmed before it weights her down too much or spitefully eat her clanmates' gardens during the night, otherwise spending her time inside in such activities as spacing out a lot, rereading old books and letters left by the now deceased scavenger she grew up with, crying over said letters or fantasizing about how she'll be more useful to her clanmates as a corpse for them to pick apart for assorted things.

Recently, she started having strange dreams about dragons with multiple eyes running through their bodies, dragons who seem oddly curious and even... happy to have her around? Also, one of the dream dragons told her that "dragons with no magic die horrifying deaths" and she's been terrified of that since.
