Journey on the Longest Road

I painted this over two months during a mentorship with the illustrious Paul Canavan (@abigbat.bsky.social) Never have I learned and fought more during a single piece of art. Also couldn't be prouder of it. A big big thank you to you, Paul!

The goal of the mentorship was basically to create an MTG worthy illustration and...I think I achieved that? I was focused on achieving tactile detail while avoiding shortcuts like texture brushes or photo bashing. In fact the whole thing is painted using only one brush about 99% of time...

Also I get to draw creatures so rarely I just had to go really big and wild with the design!

Sooooo...I worked on this!!!!!

I was part of the amazing team who illustrated and coloured the dome projection art and...guys? There is sooo much to see this season!!!

Working on this is a dream come true of major levels and honestly I can only continue to say: if you really want something, keep chasing it and it will happen.

Ruthless assassin (Vesper) sent to kill the prince (Otho) fails so hard they end up as his personal guard instead. Perfect prince charming harbours a dark, beastly secret that he (involuntarily) reveals to his murderous knight. What follows is a love story covered in lots of gore and canine imagery…

This scene was just breathtaking and the visual immediately came to me so clearly. Together with the meaning, it was meant to be!
