I sincerely wonder how Armand copes with everything that’s happened to him when he remembers it. He knows it was bad, he acknowledges that the situation was far from ideal, so how does he process it? Does he lie awake and stare at the ceiling and use half his brain to rationalise it and the other half to convince himself it was meaningless and unimportant? Or does he refuse to think about it at all and instead occupies himself with more entertaining thoughts, like ideas for bad plays or his next Minecraft build?

I think about vampirism and trauma so much… The idea of being beyond harm from the mortal world, made of marble when everyone else is made of flesh, and it sounds nice — being impervious or somehow immune to the cruelty of mortals, being above it all, being untainted, untouchable — and then you end up in this awful world full of vampires who constantly hurt and control each other. Escaping one cycle only to be stuck in another!

Vampires are static creatures cursed to walk the earth forever while people grow and change and die and go somewhere else, wherever that is = trauma freezes you as you are and makes it impossible to move forward as the world continues to spin? With the added bonus of making you feel like a terrible hungry creature?
