@smiletimeisrunningout ; "I've been feeling stressed lately. Do you mind if I have a quiet night in?" - to 10!
As much as he loved the adventure, the chaos, the fast pace of it all, it was always refreshing to see a companion saying no.
He knew that what they did was taxing on those he travelled with. They saw all sorts of things, nearly got hurt or even killed, saw both the best parts of the universe and the worst ones. Honestly, the Time Lord would be shocked if it didn't affect his companions at any point.
They'd landed on a planet – friendly, sort of tourist like. Similar to Midnight, really. Just without the x-tonic sunlight and repetitive possessing beings. Perfectly safe ( and he'd made sure to check ).
A soft exhale escapes him, arms crossing over his midsection as the Doctor leans back against the wall. "I suppose the planet will always be here tomorrow. Yeah, quiet night in – something a bit different, eh?" He grins.
"There's a telly in one of the rooms, I'm pretty sure. Gets every channel, all sorts of movies. I can grab some food," he suggests, tilting his head towards the hallway that led deeper into the TARDIS. "Try out the culture whilst staying indoors?"

@timesense ; "I can't find my keys. Have you seen them?" // 11 or 13?
Keys. He'd seen keys!
....
Well, seen them somewhere, at least. The TARDIS was in a fair bit of disarray – not his fault, lots of chaos happening around him lately – so locating said keys would be ... a slight challenge.
But he was the Doctor! The oncoming storm, he wouldn't be beaten by a little set of keys. Nope, not today! The Time Lord hummed as his gaze shifted, surveying the mess cluttering the main room of the TARDIS. Had he placed them somewhere else? No, surely not. They were too important to be thrown into some room.
Important... the Doctor moved forward, stepping over bits and bobs to reach the centre panel. Kneeling down, he began rifling through various compartments underneath the panel.
"I'm sure they were here somewhere! Just gotta find the right..." He trailed off, concentrating as he digs through various objects. Why did he even have most of these? Sentiment, most likely. God, he WAS getting old.
But not too old, since a flash of metal caught his eye. He grabs them with a triumphant "ah-ha!" before standing and spinning in one swift motion. The Doctor steps towards River, brandishing the set of keys in his hand with a ( somewhat smug ) grin. "Found them, dear."

every ot3 has these very important roles:
person a, who runs headlong into crazy bullshit
person b, who acts like they’re too sensible to run headlong into crazy bullshit, but is really just as bad as person a
person c, who actually tries to avoid running headlong into crazy bullshit, but keeps getting dragged into it by the other two anyway

Reblog this if it's okay to have people message you if you accidentally unfollowed them. I've lost count the number of times I've seen my mutuals bringing up that the unfollowing glitch has come around again (or still). This is why it's incredibly important to state in your rules to softblock or hardblock when breaking ties.

@smiletimeisrunningout ; "Hey, did you eat the last slice of pizza?" to 11
The Doctor popped his head through the doorway, looking rather disheveled. It wasn't often the TARDIS stayed in one place for more than a day or two, especially not to have 'lazy days' as some would say.
But everybody needed a break now and then. It was odd, letting time pass by slowly ( and reminiscent of his time spent as an undercover roommate ) sort of boring, but also sort of... relaxing. In a human sort of way.
At least he could be productive – work on the TARDIS, sort out some of the rooms he didn't go into, rearrange the books in library.
And of course, they could have takeaways. It was sort of hilarious, watching the delivery person's face as they arrive outside a big blue police box. The Doctor was neutral towards most of the food – some of it he rather liked, others were too strange upon the Time Lord's tastebuds.
"What? Oh, no, it wasn't me. Might've been the cat, though," he responds simply, moving to lean against the doorway.

@timesense ; "I'm not sitting here listening to this." // 10 or 11?
"Nobody's saying you have to." The Doctor didn't mean to snap, the words slipping out with more ferocity than he'd intended. Seemed to happen under stress these days, and the Doctor didn't want to think about the implications of it.
Especially not here, not now. Another run-in with this 'Professor River Song', a strange sight considering how their last encounter ended. Perhaps the guilt swirling in the pit of his stomach wasn't quite helping his mood.
It's not like seeing her was unexpected – well, in general; in this situation, it was downright odd. Nothing wrong with odd though, not really.
He trusted her. Not completely, not without some hesitation, but he did trust her. Honestly, the Doctor couldn't not. Still, that didn't mean they had to agree.
"If you have a problem with the way I do things, the things I say then feel free to leave. I can handle this on my own." His sonic screwdriver emits a high-pitched noise as he scans the door controls, brow furrowed as nothing happens. This was far from an ideal situation.

Ten, screaming from the other room: Two years!
Rose, startled: What’s he on about?
Donna: I just had to break some pretty upsetting news to him.
Ten: That’s how long you lot stood around and let me water a fake plant!
Donna, to Rose: It started out as a prank; I wanted to see how long it’d take him to notice. But by week three, his attachment had grown too strong, and I could no longer stop it.

@timesense ; is that new? when did that get here? // 11?
"Hm?"
The Doctor isn't paying attention at first, sat in the workshop swing as he tinkers with part of the TARDIS. Nothing major, just simple repairs after a particular thrilling adventure. But once her words set in, the Time Lord drags his gaze away, glancing towards the glass floor above.
Through it, he can see River; stood towards the side of the centre panel. He can't see what she's looking at, not from down here, but he has an idea of what is was.
An odd-looking statue, placed against the wall by the stairs. "Oh, the statue? That's recent... very recent," he mutters the last part, gaze dropping back to the open panel before him.
"It was a gift. Helped out some displaced travellers not too long ago, they gave it to me before I left." The Doctor explains, voice raised to be heard from beneath the floor. "I know it doesn't really fit with the decor, but I haven't had time to find a place for it."

POST - IT NOTE for Maia <3
Due to a lack of foresight ( or more, the forgetfulness of a certain time lord ), the note is scribbled onto a piece of scrap paper. If it was turned over, one would find something written in a strange language. The note is left on the centre console of the TARDIS.
Maia,
Hope you had a good rest after yesterday, I know there was a lot going on. I've parked the TARDIS on a lovely planet – nice and friendly, nothing like yesterday. Just while we recharge.
If I'm not around when you wake up, I'm probably outside. There's a nice market town close to where I've parked the TARDIS, great tourist spot. If you're feeling up to it, come and find me.
If not, hang tight and I shouldn't be too long.

“ POST - IT NOTE ” // 11 or 13?
On a small planet, a solar system or two away from Earth, a singular post-it note is left stuck to the door of the TARDIS. Left, of course, with the (almost certain) feeling that the intended receiver WOULD find it. Eventually.
River – got here a bit early, went ahead to explore. sorry couldn't help it. when you get this, meet me by the waterfall
(the small one – NOT the obvious one)
if you're not river then ignore this. if you are river: I'll see you soon. probably. hopefully it's scratched out, the word just barely visible through the pen strokes
the doctor
there's a scribble next to the signed name, hiding the 'x' that once laid beneath.
