Modern fandom went awry when people stopped learning how to avoid content that upsets them and instead starting actively seeking it out.

I mean this in the kindest, most loving way possible, but babes you'll be so much happy when you stop focusing on what other people are doing and instead focus on what you like.

You'll never be able to stop people from liking what you hate, and the best way you'll find any peace of mind is properly utilizing blocking, blacklisting, and muting tools. Take it from someone who used to run a shipping discourse blog, fandom is supposed to be what you enjoy, stop focusing on things that upset you.

God tier:

None of them, let’s be realistic

Good:

Wakaba: they’d have fun, and probably be safe, but I don’t trust her to notice if your kid is about to stick a fork in a plug socket

Anthy: fine as long as she doesn’t need to deal with mealtimes. Will feed your children nothing but shaved ice. They might get a cookie from Chu Chu if they’re lucky. Congratulations, your child now has a pet snail.

Utena: Will encourage your child to play with swords, but they’ll have a fantastic time. Your kids will want her to babysit again. You won’t.

Acceptable:

Miki: Will teach your child the piano. You might think that’s a good thing. It isn’t. Trust me.

Juri: Has way too much lesbian angst to deal with and clearly does not have time to be babysitting. Frankly it’s a little insensitive of you to even ask. Can’t you see she’s going through something here?

Nanami: look, you might argue that she shouldn’t rank this highly given the whole Tsuwabuki thing but consider, we’re grading on a curve here, and she did step up to take responsibility for her Egg.

Touga: as above, remember, we’re grading on a curve. He did (maybe?) jump into a river to save a drowning kid, so your child probably won’t die, and that qualifies for ‘acceptable’ with this bunch

Bad:

Kozue: maybe you’ll get lucky and they’ll build an adorable birdhouse for a displaced nest. Probably not though.

Shiori: even busier than Juri. Lesbian angst is time consuming, folks! Might murder your kids just a teensy bit since you were rude enough to bother her. Also sometimes a car, and whatever Transformers might have lead you to believe, you shouldn’t trust a car with your kids, or your kids with a car.

Saionji: I legitimately considered bumping him up a grade simply because he can cook.

canaan bubble redux as a womb for story/character arcs

I’m sure most of this has been posted about before but: ever since my initial read I’ve been obsessed with the gross bodily/gorey stuff in the Canaan redux and I wanted to organize some of my constant+chaotic thoughts!!

TM has said that a lot of the motifs/events in the bubbles are actually “Silent Hill stand-ins” for story elements and she hopes we pick up on stuff, so here’s my Attempt!

At the same time that Harrow’s mind is being made a tomb for Gideon Nav Wake’s subconscious is pulled in to act as a womb for certain plot elements right alongside it. The chronology/time period of HtN mimics a full nine-month gestation. There’s a lot of very literal imagery here (which is below the cut), but I also think we’re meant to see it as metaphorical: we’re able to glean some things about character arcs based on how everything in the bubble goes down.

I’m particularly interested right now in those ‘side’ characters in the bubble who aren’t actually dead, who barely appear in the bubble at all except to get summarily offed, all in very distinctive ways. Judith, Camilla, Palamedes, and Coronabeth.
