She cocked her head to the side at Aventurine's response, briefly tapping a gloved finger to her chin.

"Capitalize on it, huh? So, make it a tool for your survival — I guess you would be adept at that, naturally."

Obsidian wasn't oblivious to the fact that her close proximity was making him uncomfortable, in fact, she reveled in the smallest tells in his oh-so perfect mask. Aventurine may have been a masterful actor, but she'd long since learned to search for signs like these in her 'prey'.

Still, she wasn't here to antagonize him, not more than she usually was, at least. Obsidian straightened back up and subsequently gave Aventurine a bit more breathing room, a smug amusement still painted all over her face.

"Trying to shoo me away so soon? I'm afraid that won't do, silly! I wanted to ask you something first — particularly how you're doing after your little trial."

Just like that, her expression morphed into an exaggerated frown, a far from convincing tearful tone entering her voice.

"I was just so worried, you know! I'd hate for my favorite little lucky charm to take anything too personally after all that... As always, it's just business, darling ~ !"

*Aventurine was aware his death was probably something Obsidian would have wanted. Too bad he had beaten the odds multiple times already to get to where he was now and probably would continue to do so in the future. im trying to come up with a proper obsidian backstory for my interp and ive been looking at ye ol reliable wikipedia and a few other sites for elaboration and i might make a mesh of both lillith's origin / how she was cast out from the garden of eden, but also ive been considering persephone as a possible minor influence with all the pomegranate imagery..

it might be a little cheesy but my first half-formed idea is that on a planet worshipped / watched over by the order, theres a sort of royal and religious monarchy inspired by old english type things with little separation in between them, and obsidian's original mortal being was meant to be betrothed to some random, less than pleasant guy

when she refuses to see the engagement through, she's essentially cast out of her rightful position as nobility and one things lead to another (still under development) she eats a suspicious fruit offered to her by a heretic, pomegranate but also representing the temptation of sin simultaneously, and becomes an emanator of voracity / gains an insatiable appetite that she must constantly appease with some sort of violence and/or physical ingestion of flesh or blood?

obviously very messy and a work in progress but im just yapping so i can have it somewhere!!

Oh, this boy was fun! Obsidian truly admired his daring, she really did, even if she might not show it in the most conventional way. She would delight in seeing Aventurine's death, yes, his rebirth of sorts actually — but the destruction he could wreak on his way to the grave?

Well, she didn't mind being an audience for that either, she'd say that much.

"My my, you have such 'manners,' Aventurine! I'll accept your gratitude then, only because I'm quite soft on you ~ !"

Not the entire truth, really, Obsidian was amused by just about anyone, but she was earnest when she recognized him as anything but a bore. Leaning in, she flashed a fanged smile, the pearly white of her teeth just a bit too close for comfort.

"Fear is a weapon you use well, darling, even if you may not exude it visibly... I'm sure you're well accustomed with the feeling though, aren't you, sweet boy?"

i think obsidian and aglaea should kiss actually.. call that bloodbath!! something something au where the ipc do come to amphoreus and obsidian is the delegate; obsidian is either playing mental games with aglaea or flirting and aglaea cant tell!!

aglaea's "only in the baths can we truly let our guards down and be ourselves" vs my obsidian's "only in a bloodbath can sins be washed clean and one can start anew"?

still figuring out certain aspects of my obsidian she is VERY new but im actually latching onto her so fast.. i love the silly little two crackpairs ive put thought into so far ugh!!

headcanon: stelle experiences nightmares that majorly come from repressed memories during their time as a stellaron hunter.

Stelle didn’t like going to sleep. Sure, they’d gotten their own room on the Astral Express of course, and it was free for them to lounge about in and customize as they liked… but it didn’t feel comfortable enough yet.

Every time they settled down for the night and closed their eyes, they began to feel on edge, unable to really wind down and chase away the feeling of impending danger. Nothing ever proved their paranoia to be rooted in actual experiences, but then again, it was hard to tell when they didn’t remember anything before a month ago.

Thinking about the whys of it didn’t matter though; the important part was the fact they were burning out in energy quicker than a dead battery. It was becoming noticeable too, Stelle’s actions being much more sluggish and the dark bags under their eyes not helping their case either.

Out of all the people to call them out on it, however, they definitely weren’t expecting March to do it.

Not that there was anything wrong with March, of course — no, the reality of it was that Stelle had grown attached to the girl faster than they had with anyone else of the Astral Express crew. March was someone to relate to, someone who persevered when she had the same lack of memory as Stelle, and that inspired the golden-eyed individual greatly itself.

It was just that… March was clearly not the most responsible one, and for her to look out for Stelle before herself? Well, maybe it was just the way she was, but it startled Stelle all the same.

Regardless, it was very, very much appreciated. For several months that's exactly how they slept, just another member of the valiant guard that was made up of March's stuffed plushes and pillows. It was... it was safe, it was serene, it was --

It was Stelle's new home, and for the first time, they could say that with confidence.

i write my stelle quite a bit differently than canon!! i choose to focus on their emotional disconnect from the world around them partly caused by the stellaron and partly caused by their lack of memories; they're an awful lot more blunt and muted in their emotional expression to things, and they do have a habit of struggling to understand certain social cues or expectations; still, stelle can approach things with a very wise outlook at times, and they're always curious to learn and adapt to their surroundings!
