Got the counter completley implemented
Wooooooooo guess who got the counter completly working? Me! took a while to get the sprite for the fish created, as well as getting it all linked up to the counter. But now, when you click on the fisherman, the number of fish actuallly increases.
This makes me incredibley happy. Next up, i think i should get some of the upgrades down, just to make sure the core gameplay is out of the way before doing anything else.

Got the Fishcount Variable Working
today, i got the variable for the fishcounter working. I also completley revamped the fisherman class, using a base node of a kinematic body 2d instead of an Area2D, which definitley helped greatly, as we can now actually move the player around within the test scene. Next up is we’ve got to set up an object to be our actual counter, which shouldn’t be too difficult. After that i think we should set up some basic animations for our fisherman, as that shouldn’t be too difficult. I’ll keep you all informed on what happens next!

Got the Fisherman to be Clickable
Howdy All! Hope all is well, been workng some more on the game in godot today, which was pretty stressful. However! I’ve been able to impliment the actual clicking ability of the fisherman. This was a huge relief lmao
Next up is to add a fish basket to actually count the ammount fish added on with each click. what i’m thinking is setting up a test scene so i dont have to fiddle with the poor fishermans scene anymore, which should avoid me accidently breaking it at any point.

Here we have it, this is the first (Very Very) rough draft of the fisherman on whom the player will click to increase the ammount of fish they have within Fish Clicker. Ik he’s not brilliant at the minute, i’m still rather amature. As such, any and all advice is appreciated! I want to keep his main colour as white (As that is how the silhouette is described within the story) and i definitley still want him to have a fishing rod, as all good fishermen need a sturdy rod. But i was also thinking of getting rid of the beard and hat, as well as buffing up the white to make for a more monochrome and stark contrast. What do you guys think?

A new Game Dev Project
Hello there! My names Crow and it’s a pleasure to know you’re reading this.
Today, i read a short horror story by u/Darkly_Gathers called Fish Clicker™ on Reddit. This was a terryfing little story about a man who finds and then plays a small idle game in a similar vain to the legendary Cookie Clicker. The game was incredibley uncanny, allowing you to click on a fisherman to increase the ammount of fish you own, which can in turn increasses the ammount of upgrades you can get, which in turn allows you fish up more fish, from deeper in the sea. The deeper you fish, the more and more twisted the fish things become; with some of them not being fish at all. The story takes a dark turn, with the poor fishermans guilt and anguish overcoming him as he fishes deeper and deeper. As somebody who has been a massive fan of lovecraftian fiction for all of my adult (and most of my teenage) life, i instantly got a major nerd boner over this imaginary game, and being a programmer and wannabe game dev, decided i’d reach out to the creator and ask if i could recreated the game within his story. This blog will be here to function as an update to anyone who is intrested in following development of this small game, as well as give myself an easy way of recording my progress. Intrested in reading the story? Find it here: https://www.reddit.com/user/Darkly_Gathers/ That’s it for now, wish me luck!
