GoldenEye 007 | Included with Game Pass
There was of course only one game I could share. GoldenEye arrived on Game Pass today. We get widescreen support and modern day fpv controls without goofy emulation hacks. Practice up on mobile so you can beat your foes on split screen multiplayer back on Xbox.

Forza Horizon 5 | Included with Game Pass
If you are into driving games you already know about Horizon 5, but I've found the Logitech G Cloud a great way to explore the open world. Knocking down XP billboards while watching tv with your significant other is a great way to spend the evening. Then when the tv is free move back to the console to race on the big screen.

Knights of the Old Republic | Included with Play Pass
I originally played this on pc years ago. With the limited time I've played this port it has performed well. If you are a Play Pass subscriber you can't go wrong giving KOTOR a shot.

Intro
I made this blog to showcase some of the hidden, and not so hidden, gems on Android. Mobile gaming has come a long way in the past few years. The problem is sifting through the crud games with microtransactions, loot boxes, and pay to win schemes.
We now see console games ported or remastered for Android, new mobile games are finally gaining good controller support, and cloud gaming through Game Pass and GeForce Now give us access to the latest AAA titles. Plus emulation of retro consoles continues to advance at a rapid pace to the point we are now moving out of retro and can play some Switch games on Android.
In some ways Android can provide a better gaming experience when compared to the Nintendo Switch. Many newer games (e.g. Sonic Frontiers) are handicapped in performance on the Switch compared to the Playstation or Xbox versions. I'd argue a cloud experience is actually preferable to native in these cases. Other titles like the Resident Evil series are only available on the Switch through cloud anyways.
The other mobile gaming king, the Steam Deck, sacrifices battery life for performance. While it brings a great native experience to mobile, you can't get too far from a wall plug or you will be packing a large power bank to play for more than a few hours out of the house. Also, if you want one device to game and consume media, Android has native apps for all the streaming services while the Switch and Deck are limited to just a few.
Whether you have a dedicated handheld or attach a controller to your phone, Android is a great option for quality gaming on the go.

Spaceflight Simulator | Included with Play Pass
Design a rocket and shoot it to space. Land on our moon or even one of the moons of Jupiter. This is the first game I've included that is not controller-based, but it's totally worth your time. It's free to download with upgrade packs available as in-app purchases. Play Pass members get the packs included with subscription.
