Annapurna Base Camp.
There's something unreal about being surrounded by a 360-degree wall of Himalayan giants. The trek to get here is a journey in itself—through rhododendron forests, past waterfalls, and up what feels like a million stone steps. You pass through the most peaceful villages, drink endless cups of milk tea, and feel smaller and smaller as the mountains get bigger and bigger.
And then you arrive. And it’s just… this. Pure magic.
The whole soul-filling adventure was made possible by the incredible crew at Third Eye Adventure Nepal. If you're looking for a sign to go, this is it.

That feeling when you're standing above the clouds. ✨
This is the island peak. 6,189 meters of pure, unfiltered awe in the heart of the Himalayas.
It's called a "beginner" peak, which really means it's the perfect place to feel like a real mountaineer for the first time. You trek through the most beautiful valley on earth, then you learn to use an ice axe and climb a glacier under the stars to watch the sunrise from the top of the world.
It's tough, it's breathtaking, and it changes you.
Huge thanks to the crew at Third Eye Adventure Nepal for being our guides and mentors, and for making sure our wild dreams were pursued safely.
For anyone who's ever looked at a mountain and felt a pull… this is your sign.

Discover Pikey Peak: Your Gentle Gateway to Everest's Majesty with Third Eye Adventure Nepal
For those who dream of witnessing the grandeur of Mount Everest but are looking for a more accessible, culturally rich, and less crowded experience, the Pikey Peak trek is a hidden gem rapidly gaining recognition. And for a truly authentic and well-supported journey, Third Eye Adventure Nepal, though a newer name in the adventure scene, is proving to be an excellent choice for organizing this incredible lower-elevation trek in the Everest region.
Pikey Peak: The Perfect Introduction to Himalayan Trekking
Located in the Solu-Khumbu (lower Everest) region, the Pikey Peak trek (around 4,065m / 13,336 ft at its highest point) offers a unique blend of breathtaking Himalayan panoramas, deep cultural immersion, and manageable trekking – making it ideal for beginners or those with limited time.
Why Pikey Peak is a Rising Star:
Unbeatable Everest Views (Without the Altitude Sickness Risk): Sir Edmund Hillary himself reportedly declared Pikey Peak his favorite viewpoint for Everest. From the summit, on a clear day, you can witness a jaw-dropping panorama stretching from Kanchenjunga in the east to Dhaulagiri in the west, including iconic peaks like Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. The lower altitude significantly reduces the risk of acute mountain sickness (AMS) compared to higher treks.
Rich Sherpa Culture: The trail winds through traditional Sherpa villages, offering an authentic glimpse into their unique way of life, ancient Buddhist traditions, and warm hospitality. You'll encounter centuries-old monasteries, mani walls inscribed with prayers, and fluttering prayer flags that paint the landscape with spiritual vibrancy. Visiting Thupten Chholing Monastery, one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Nepal, is often a highlight.
Lower Elevation, Higher Comfort: As a lower elevation trek, the trails are generally less strenuous than those leading to Everest Base Camp. The routes typically meander through lush rhododendron and pine forests (spectacular in spring!), terraced fields, and charming hamlets.
Off-the-Beaten-Path Feel: While growing in popularity, Pikey Peak still offers a quieter, more intimate trekking experience compared to the bustling trails of EBC or Annapurna. This allows for more meaningful interactions with locals and a greater sense of peace in the mountains.
Good for Beginners: The manageable daily walking distances, well-defined trails (though sometimes rugged), and relatively lower altitude make it an excellent choice for first-time trekkers in Nepal. It provides a fantastic taste of Himalayan adventure without overwhelming physical demands.
Trekking Pikey Peak with Third Eye Adventure Nepal:
Choosing the right operator is crucial, especially for a newer trek. While Third Eye Adventure Nepal might be a newly founded company, this often comes with distinct advantages:
Fresh Enthusiasm & Personalized Service: Newer companies are often eager to build a strong reputation, leading to more personalized attention, flexibility, and a commitment to exceeding client expectations.
Local Expertise: Run by Nepalis, they possess innate knowledge of the region, its culture, and the logistical nuances of trekking. Their guides are often from the local areas, providing invaluable insights.
Focus on Safety and Comfort: Like all reputable operators, they will prioritize your safety with experienced guides trained in first aid, proper acclimatization schedules, and reliable support staff.
Competitive Itineraries: They can offer well-paced itineraries that maximize your enjoyment, cultural immersion, and chances of clear mountain views, often including visits to significant monasteries and Sherpa villages.
Supporting Local Economy: Trekking with a local company like Third Eye Adventure Nepal ensures that your investment directly benefits the local communities and economy.
What to Expect on a Pikey Peak Trek organized by Third Eye Adventure Nepal:
A scenic drive from Kathmandu to the trek starting point (often Dhap or Phaplu).
Daily treks of 4-7 hours through diverse landscapes.
Accommodation in basic but comfortable teahouses run by local families.
Delicious Nepali and some Western-style meals.
An early morning hike to Pikey Peak for sunrise views over the Himalayan giants.
Opportunities to visit monasteries, interact with monks, and learn about Sherpa Buddhism.
A knowledgeable and friendly guide, along with porters to carry your main luggage.
Is Pikey Peak for You?
This trek is perfect if you:
Are a beginner trekker looking for your first Himalayan adventure.
Have limited time but still want stunning Everest views.
Are interested in authentic cultural experiences.
Prefer less crowded trails.
Are a photographer seeking incredible mountain vistas and cultural scenes.
The Pikey Peak trek, especially when guided by a dedicated local team like Third Eye Adventure Nepal, offers an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Sherpa homeland, crowned by some of the most spectacular mountain views on Earth. It's a fantastic way to experience the magic of the Everest region in a gentler, more culturally immersive way.
