The Secret History being published in our world caused a mass search for Hampden and Henry Winter to begin, like people were calling and writing and all that, lol (or at least, according to a post i saw long ago being recounted by someone)

So when Richard published his book, did people start looking into it the same? Did they try looking for Hampden college? Can you imagine searching for Henry Winter and finding his obituary in, perhaps, an old newspaper or something?

Also did Richard lowkey snitch on everyone like 😭😭 for the murders?? Maybe the cops catch on??? But Charles is off the grid anyway.

Oh my god, can you imagine Donald corcoran reading this god damn book???? ('Ohhh Richard papen! I remember that lad....he's written a book now, has he? Let me read it.' head ahh) Reading how bitter the relationship between his son and his best friend really had become? The best friend Donald praised and fawned over all the damn time? The best friend Donald thought killed himself over losing bunny (but really he was the killer)? The man who killed his son? His baby? The man he welcomed into his house like a son and even made him run some funeral arrangements? The boy who he housed for Christmas time? The boy his son gushed over in his first year? That henry winter? That fucking bastard? (And a sinking despair and anguish over the fact that his own son could not reach out to him when he most wanted help. A reflection of his parenthood.)

FINAL PART

reading 'the secret history' by donna tartt for the first time, here are my thoughts after reading through chapter 8 and the epilogue:

[CONTAINS SPOILERS] obviously

— i feel like a newborn baby after finishing this book

— a collective downward spiral

— i hate all of them, yet i feel so bad for all of them

— henry straight up tried to kill charles

— like charles is awful, but damn man you can't just keep doing that every time

— richard does not deserve the company of miss judy poovey

— nobody gave a single fuck that richard got shot in the stomach, i would've lost it

— it surprises me that henry would see (according to richard) suicide as a noble act, which makes me think that that was one of many things richard was dead wrong about

— and there are so many things that richard was wrong about

— i've got an appointment to get to

My grandmother was an avid bird watcher and I spent a little of time with her when I was a kid. I'm 32 and she's passed away now. It's weird how the bird watching knowledge bubbled back up. I also see why she disliked grackles.
