Things are good

I have to keep saying that. I am generally happy and enjoying where I am at in life... Sometimes my brain can get caught in all the bad and then suddenly, I am mentally spiraling and thinking about things from 2016. I have experienced traumatic things. However, they do not define who I am or who I want to be. But they are part of my story.

Recently, I went to a Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program at a coffee shop. It was hard but I left happy and stronger. Sitting next to other survivors and hearing their stories was so touching. For so long I felt trapped inside...I was in so much pain. I didn't feel like I could do anything about what happened to me. I had trauma but then on top of that I had trauma from my parents. One chilly day, on my way to work, I went out of my comfort zone to talk to someone that was literally all by themselves protesting on the street. Talking to them made me not feel so alone, I understood why they were doing what they were doing. Abuse is not ok. Even if it is just one time. You can speak up. You can find your peace and justice. It is never easy and everyones journey is different. But I am here to say you are star.
