why are her feet missing
holy shit it took me until now to notice Jiang is actually among the wedding guests after all. her wedding variant container is definitely either a placeholder or dummied out tho so it's just her regular model

there's one little change in Bride To Be that i really don't like and it's that Winston and Peggy originally picked their wedding cake together rather than it being Winston's job (that he screwed up). now Winston was always an exaggerated persona but compared to some of the unused dialogue they made him more cartoonish for the final release for what i think were negative returns. especially when it comes to the Boys i always thought that the whole point of them was that just because they look and act like clowns doesn't mean they're not fully realized people, Winston naturally having the most complex inner world out of all of them. that's the thing that's supposed to draw you in, get you invested. so for the final release to undermine that with little changes like this... it really annoys me, it was the same thing with the convo in Uncle Po where they wrote out that part where Winston was allowed to show the tiniest bit of self-awareness with his living situation

with all this talk about the dogs part of sleeping dogs. did u know Dogeyes' crew used to be called Dog Boys instead of (Green) Jade Gang. Jackie called them Dogshit Boys

i've been looking into sd prerelease stuff because of all the datamining i've been doing, and it's really funny whenever during prerelease events they brought up the idiom about letting sleeping dogs lie as a source for the name. i just recently read an article where someone at UFG was like oh yea actually we called it sleeping dogs because everyone working on it was dog-tired after all the trouble the studio went through to get it out the door

in After All (which is used in the Payback outro cutscene) the chorus goes
The sun won't rise And the rain won't fall And the seas won't part for you After all
and that definitely makes me think of Conroy more than anyone else because it sounds like a spoiled toddler finally learning they're not the center of the universe (the boss ain't rising the sun just for him and he gotta get over it). the lyrics overall are vague enough that they fit the cutscene just in general, a grim yet determined acceptance of some kind of change for not just Wei but everyone involved
i like all the sun imagery in Dogs because i may or may not associate that with Conroy and his infatuation with his boss. you know. looks at him like he makes the Sun rise in the morning
#naturally there's also a connection to Take What's Mine where the central theme is that a change needs to happen or they won't survive#you don't hear the lyrics in the cutscene anyways so none of this matters. but i like it

both of these songs are from an album called "Dogs"
the Snitch is Caught cutscene and the Payback outro cutscene use Parlor Mob's Take What's Mine and After All instrumentals respectively and i feel like they're trying to form a motif of some kind, but i'm not sure for whom or what (if anything at all, maybe the devs just really liked Parlor Mob). those are the only Parlor Mob songs in the game and they're only used like this in the context of the Boys so idk i just want it to mean sometihng

Wei could have become a paparazzo
also you would've had to take pics of gangsters (besides Dogeyes in Final Kill)? like just any of them? i already take hundreds of pics of the Boys so i should be rewarded for my efforts, definitely
at some point the phone camera was always accessible and functioned as a way to take screenshots. taking photos of landmarks was a collectible. the landmarks you would've had to photograph included at least: Hospital Sculpture, Night Market Entrance, Temple Shrine, Government House, Big Smile Lee's Hostess Bar, Victoria Peak Tram Station, Cemetery, Victoria Park and Convention Centre
you would've also been given the option to use the camera during missions for optional cop objectives, like taking a pic of Dogeyes during Final Kill for some reason

what the fuck why did they remove this. let me defeat him. to be able to humiliate Conroy in front of the guys in Going Under is my greatest dream

but why would Salty refer to Wei as a friend in Bad Luck when they had just met? well there's leftover text about an unused mission called "Broken Nose Jiang" for act 2, probably before Bad Luck. i think he might've featured in it
in the game files there are leftovers for several unused cases, featuring Benny, Old Salty Crab, Not Ping, an unnamed politician and someone called The Horseman
looking specifically at Salty's case, in Bad Luck he talks about "taking a break from the import-export gig" because "something went wrong, i don't wanna talk about it". i think this is what he was referring to, this case would've happened before Bad Luck. this sounds really good i would've loved to get that moment of "oh wait that was me huh" during the mission. it really would've made Wei feel like a proper snake too because Salty has some dialogue about breaking some guy's face for insinuating that Wei is a cop. because "no one talks about my friends that way"
