What About Alternatives to Removal of Teeth?

The upper and lower jaw of a child and adolescent can be made wider by activating the growth center running front-to-back through the center of the jaw with an appliance known as an expander. This growth center normally fuses during the late teens. But, in the lower and upper jaw of adult patients, expansion is really the spreading of teeth within the existing bone dimensions. This sort of expansion is limited and critical because the bone that forms and covers the roots under the gums is fairly thin and does not expand or grow when the teeth are pushed outwardly.

Myth #1: Brush harder, to have a cleaner teeth.

Fact: Brushing too hard can actually harm your teeth by eroding some of the hard enamel that protects the inside of the tooth from cavities and decay. Some people will say that they feel like they're getting them more clean but the truth is it wears away enamel and even the gums. So it’s always recommended to use a soft-bristled brush and to take your time brushing, don’t rush and don’t brush too hard.

What are Dental Crowns Made of?

Crowns can be made from a variety of different materials including ceramic, porcelain, and gold alloys. Some people choose metal for crowns on molars because they’re not in view. Composite resin, porcelain, and ceramic look more like your natural teeth.
