Peru is the 9th largest producer of cocao ( cocoa) in the world. I was impressed at the culinary sophistication of Peru when , I was watching CNN'S Parts Unknown recently. I learnt that guinea pigs are an integral part of the Peruvian diet. The Peruvian cuisine is highly influenced by the Amazon jungle and Asian cuisine due to, the migration of Japanese and Chinese to that part of the world. Tony and his best friend , chef Eric Ripert travelled to the forest of Peru to check out a rare variety of white cocoa which , are extremely rare. Peru has a rare species of white cocao beans that are indigenous to that country. Tony did an excellent job in showcasing the culture and cuisine of Peru. My respect for Tony , CNN and Peru has skyrocketed. Rest In Peace Tony. Walk good . You will be severely missed. By the way , Peru has made the 1930 , 1970 , 1978, 1982 and 2018 FIFA World Cup of Soccer. I dedicate this article to culinary icon , Anthony Bourdain. Mexico is the 8th largest producer of cocao ( cocoa) beans in the world . A no nonsense combatant on the soccer field and a fearless standard bearer representing the Concacaf region. Mexico has qualified for the FIFA World Cup of Soccer in 1930 , 1950 , 1954 , 1958 1962 , 1966 , 1970 , 1978 , 1986 , 1994 , 1998 , 2002, 2006 , 2010, 2014 and 2018 . Notwithstanding , the fact that Mexico withdrew in 1938 and were banned in 1990 , one has to give them credit for their impressive consistency, especially as a representative from the Concacaf region . Is it their consumption of chocolate that attributes to their prowess in soccer ? Is there a link between chocolate consumption and performance ? The country is a net importer of cocao ie Brazilians eat more than they sell the commodity. It goes without saying that , Brazil is the greatest and most powerful country in soccer. Statistics never lie. The Soccer standard bearers were champions in 1958 , 1962 , 1970 , 1994 and 2002 . They were runners up in 1950 and 1998 .The soccer kings were 3rd in 1938 and 1978 and 4th placed finishers in 1974 and 2014. They have produced outstanding players as Vava, Pele , Zagallo , Jairzinho, Revelino, Tastao, Carlos Alberto , Dr. Socrates , Romario, Zico , Ronaldo , Bebeto, Rivaldo , Ronaldinho, Denilson , Coutinho and Neymar . Cameroon qualified for the World Cup of Soccer on 7 occasions. In 1982 , 1990 , 1994 , 1998 , 2002 , 2010 and 2014 . They were Africa Cup of Nations champions in 1984 , 1988 , 2000 , 2002 and 2017. They drew 1-1 with Nigeria in their qualifying , group B encounter in Africa .This deprived them of a place in The 2018 FIFA World Cup of Soccer. Did you know that Ghana is the 2nd greatest producer of cocao ( cocoa) beans behind the Ivory Coast ? It is so important to the Ghanaian economy that , it is showcased on Ghanaian money as a tribute to its significance . Ghana has qualified for 4 Olympic games football tournaments. They won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1963 , 1965 , 1978 and 1982 . Also , they were runners up on 5 occasions in 1968 , 1970 , 1992 , 2010 and 2015 . In 2005 , Ghana won the FIFA Best Move Of The Year Award . They reached the 2nd round of The FIFA World Cup the following year . Four (4) years later , they admirably attained quarter finals status. In 2014 , it was no surprised that they qualified for the World Cup of Soccer tournament. Unfortunately, they failed to qualify in 2018. Did you know that the Ivory Coast failed to qualify for the World Cup of Soccer 2018 after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Morocco ? They failed to qualify for the first time in 11 years !!! Didier Drogba is their most prolific player. He led Ivory Coast in the 2006 , 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup. He was also an integral part of the Ivory Coast teams that reached the finals of The African Cup of Nations in 2006 and 2012.
