so i havent really spoken on this a lot, but the reason goredev left the modding community was in large part due to the false accusations made against him a year ago that he was a sexual predator. the allegations were proven false, but not before a moderator at r/skyrimmods (a subreddit with over 400k members in it) allowed a callout post to made about him with these allegations and his personal details, such as his legal name, the city and state he lived in, his rank in the army, etc. all with the purpose of calling him out for something he was not. after he proved his innocence, the r/skyrimmods subreddit was quick to remove any and all mentions of the incident. goredev got little more than a "whoops, sorry I was manipulated!" for an apology from the admin that allowed his sensitive and private information to be posted, but the damage was already done. during that time I was driving 3 hours to his house and back once a week to check on him as a form of suicide watch. goredev, as im sure you all know, is a victim of CSA. to be called a predator was extremely triggering and had a noticeable impact on his mental health. because of this, and because he never got more than a half-hearted apology and no true resolution besides just absolving his name of a crime he did not commit, he made the decision to leave the community he had been made to feel so unwelcome in. he brought it to the r/skyrimmods subreddit's attention of the admin's, Thallassa, actions. since then, the subreddit has been embroiled on the topic of if she should remain a moderator, what needs to be done about moderation, and what to do going further. Thallassa announced today that they were recruiting more admins for the subreddit, but that she would not be stepping down as a moderator. No accountability would be taken. I made a post directly addressing her, which was immediately removed from the subreddit. I feel you all have a right to hear it:

"Ok Thallassa. Let me address you directly. Last time we spoke, you said you admired how kind I was, so let me pay you that same respect.

I am glad to hear that other moderators will be recruited. But, in my honest opinion, this needs to be done with the goal in mind that you will step down from your role. By your own admission just now, you allowed a man's government name and the city and state he lived in to be posted in a malicious callout thread. In doing so, you potentially endangered him and his family. You allowed my legal name to be posted on that same thread, and when I asked you to removed it and showed you my drivers license to prove it was my legal name, you still contested it and eventually settled on 'I'll ask [party accusing goredev] to remove your name.' You did not take action as a moderator and remove mentions of my name. You told me you would ask the same person who I had just shown you proof of attacking and insulting me to do it themselves. You have also allowed trash-talking about goredev to stay up in the discord server general chat, some talks you even participated in. It is clear that you have an outstanding bias and therefore cannot be impartial in this matter or any other matters to do with him whatsoever.

Let's also not forget why all of this started in the first place: because of the events of last year, wherein he was falsely accused of being a predator, because he never got a formal apology, and because the events that transpired on this subreddit permanently ruined his reputation amongst other mod authors, he is leaving the community. He was treated like shit, frankly. And never got more than a 'whoops, sorry'.

This post still falls short of what he was asking for when he brought this to light again: accountability. I think recruiting new admins is going to be a great start. But you cannot remain an impartial moderator here. It is too abundantly clear you are not impartial, you have bias, and you still cannot say directly 'I apologize for the role I had in malicious, false attacks against you that have affected you this deeply.' You still do not even say what the false allegations were that you kept up: that he, a CSA survivor, was supposedly a predator.

So sure, stuff is being done to fill the gap that Cobb left, but nothing is changed. No accountability has been taken. And until then, I cannot see how anything is going to get done and not allow something like this to happen again. I hope this was kind enough for you, and I hope you listen to what I have to say." You all have a right to know why he left, what he went through, and what he is still going through. Thallassa, I hope you see this, and I hope you stop removing posts. Take accountability for your role in what you did to goredev, own up to what you did, and step down so no one else can be hurt like he has been.

Alright, it's time for a hard conversation. Everyone, I want to first thank you for all of your support since I started on this mod. It means a lot to me. I don't see a future in which I can continue working on this mod. I do all of the scripting, voice acting, etc. and to say that it is a lot of work is an understatement. Hell, the recent update that added a ton of interaction to the main quest and the factions was massive compared to most follower updates, and a lot more in depth than you get with most other mods. It took a lot out of me. Since publishing that update, I have been inundated nonstop with criticism of the mod's features, writing, character, interactions, quests, voice acting (which hurts, ngl) as well as blatantly false bug reports for vanilla engine problems, obvious mod conflicts, questions that are clearly addressed in the description that no one reads, etc. Basically, I have been pelted with negativity nonstop. I can count on one hand how many times I have even seen people talk about the new content I added, and not all of them were positive. A couple were people disliking the direction I took the mod in.

I did not make this mod to be "praised" for it, but I don't feel that I am asking too much to not be insulted constantly. I understand comparing followers should be expected, but there is one particular comparison that haunts me and has hung over this mod since the day it released. I won't pretend to be unbothered by it. The combined endless stream of negativity in the comments, bug reports, reddit, tumblr and, on the off chance someone even brings him up there, in the server has worn me down. I lost my job this year and went from making 6 figures last year to being medically retired on short notice. I am on a frightening cocktail of meds that MAY or MAY NOT even work according to the VA's finest psychiatrists, all while I am in school to restart a career in welding, working a job and raising a toddler full time. I simply do not have the energy or time to devote to working on this mod any longer while getting nothing out of it except nonstop negativity.

I am not, nor do I pretend to be over what happened last year around this time on Reddit where I was doxxed by a moderator with my full address. Although most of the people involved have "apologized" to me, it was a harrowing experience to say the least and opened my eyes to the parasocial nature of publishing something as ambitious as this. It irreparably damaged my relationships with other authors working on similar mods, which is why Gore has so few "interactions."

Moving forward I am going to lock the comments/bug reports and turn over the mod to a nexus caretaker. The discord server will be turned over to dwarvenqueen and I will be leaving shortly after. All social media accounts for the mod will be deactivated, including tumblr, twitter, reddit. The mod will remain open perms and any and all scripts, methods, etc. will be open to use. I don't care if you credit me, I will not see it. No one does as it is. Let it be known that I do not consent to:

Randumb headcanons

1. Nebarra teaches Secunda how to fight when camping. He says it's because her melee style is so pathetic it makes an old elf cry, but it's really because he cares, and the last time Secunda ran out of magicka mid-battle...

2. Lucien likes to read every book they pick up on their adventures. Eris doesn't read due to her lack of vision, but she stands by Lucien's tent to overhear him read the books out loud (as he does by habit). Lucien, realizing this, begins to leave his tent open and 'not notice' Eris standing right outside.

3. When Lucien moved into Dumzbthar for a bit, Remiel insisted on coming along. The only reason why she wasn't able to is because everyone else can imagine what horrors would come from leaving Remiel and Lucien in a dwemer ruin unsupervised.

4. Remiel and the Knight of the Void are both insomniacs, and chances are, they're sharing nightwatch duty. The Knight finds the clicking and clacking of Remiel's machines to be relaxing, while Remiel walks her through her invention of the evening. Turns out, the Knight is a good sounding board for upgrade ideas.

5. Auri often listens to the trees, a rare silent moment when she closes her eyes and feels the breeze pass through the leaves. Caryalind once asked Auri about this, and now, they listen to the trees together, hanging at the back of the group and feeling the sunlight on their skin

6. Taliesin sees Remiel as a little sister. A troublesome, constantly distracted, little sister. While he won't let her try her hand at enchanting Berwhale, he is more than happy to show her how to do powerful enchantments for Scrap.

7. Inigo is a very honest person, in an innocent kind of way. He is often the therapist of the gang, and his earnest and patient nature has made him Gore's best buddy, especially when Gore feels heavy from his past.

8. Kaidan regularly drills the gang for the next fight, flanked by Inigo and Auri. He's surprisingly protective of everyone and makes absolutely share they're all at their best and brightest, even if it means sore muscles and liquid bones by morning.

9. Xelzaz cooks, but there's a rotation on who gathers ingredients and hunts. Everyone fights for the spot because the assigned gatherer gets to have extra helpings.

10. All the archers have shooting contests. It always escalates. They never settle on a winner.
