the nevin symbiont is young,  they’ve seen very little of the galaxy...   especially considering the fact that they’ve just moved on to their fourth host.  nicolette proll knew better than any the tale of the nevin symbiont  —  particularly as fate has worked in such strange ways and left her nicolette nevin,  the fourth host of the young symbiont.  she’d never planned to be joined,  she’d never wanted to be joined,  but her sister  —  the third host  —  grew ill and died incredibly suddenly of a mysterious illness and nic was the only trill in the area.  

with the priority of the trill to protect the symbionts,  to be joined was never a question...  in fact,  she’s the one who brought it up.  a nurse in starfleet,  she now faces the challenge of navigating the confusing changes that’ve come with three other lives being a part of her.  nic can’t even decide if it’s better or worse that two of the past hosts were her family.  her mother,  who’d died a long time ago,  and jessie  —  and now she has each of them   ❪  and their memories  ❫,   closer to her than she’d ever expected.  of course,  to have been joined at all is unexpected.  she didn’t go through the initiate process,  she hadn’t been offered any preparation,  but now it’s up to her to figure out a path forward.
