I appreciate a lot of parts of The Outer Worlds but one thing I really fucking love is Parvati
Talking to you about being asexual but yes she still wants a girlfriend. No sex isn't on her mind, that doesn't make her a child or emotionless even though people have told her it makes her "cold." She has plenty of love to give and that doesn't really connect to sex for her and I just. Thank you outer worlds I love you 🥺🥺

2. Duck and Cover
Summary: Felix gets hurt and thinks he's blown it with his new Captain.
Words: 1890
Warnings: Minor injuries, swearing
(Prompt List) (Ao3 Link)
___
Felix was excited to be off the Groundbreaker, on an adventure with a freelancer, and actually getting to experience Halcyon. Captain Hawthorne giving him a chance was the best thing that could ever have happened to him.
Felix had spent most of his life on the Groundbreaker trying to prove to other people that he was worth something. That he could be useful for something other than lugging around shipments all day.
He thought he was screwed when he lost his temper at the foreman. He knew he messed up with that one, but after being someone’s punching bag for half your life, it’s easy to lose your temper when they purposefully push your buttons. And then, Captain Hawthorne came into his life with Parvati in tow, and offered him a new start. A life he could only dream of. He wanted to finally show everyone that he WAS more than a Back Bay rungleech.
So of course, he fucked it up almost immediately.
The roads surrounding Roseway were crawling with Raptidons, Canids, and marauders, and Captain Hawthorne had armed Felix and Vicar Max accordingly before heading out. Vicar Max apparently had experience using weaponry, interesting for a Vicar, but he had only ever used a Tossball stick as a weapon himself. He was nervous using the gun, but Captain Hawthorne assured him he’d be fine. He also said he could use the Tossball stick if he preferred.
Turned out Felix wasn’t as great with the Tossball stick as he thought, at least against Raptidons. He charged at a Raptidon like he had been the last few groups they’d encountered, but this time, a second one sprung out of the grass and lunged at him. He turned to hit it, but lost control of the stick and missed completely.
Felix heard the Captain shout his name, and he thought he heard Vicar Max call him an idiot. But mostly he noticed the sudden sharp intense pain in his arm as the creature shoved him hard to the ground. He assumed this was it. 20 minutes out on a new planet and he was going to be eaten by a Rapt. He shoved the stick in the thing’s mouth and tried not to let it drool too much on him either. The Rapt was much stronger than him, though, and he didn’t know what else to do.
Suddenly, the weight was off him and he was covered in blood.
Felix sat up and realized the Vicar had saved him with a shotgun blast to the creature's head. Max kneeled next to him and sighed as he gently prodded at Felix’s arm. Felix whimpered pitifully, and Max rolled his eyes.
“His arm is broken, Captain,” Vicar Max yelled out.
“I’m fine!” Felix insisted, trying to stand up. He could still fight with a broken arm, right? He’d seen Tossball players continue on with far worse, and that was for a sport. He wanted to continue on.
“Stay put, Felix!” Captain Hawthorne barked out, “Max, come help me for a second!”
Felix couldn’t see the Captain from where he was sitting, a few large storage crates were in the way, but he could hear disappointment in his Captain’s voice and started to panic. Had he truly screwed up his chance already? He couldn’t go back to the Groundbreaker, and he clearly wasn’t cut out to live in a place like this by himself. He had to prove he was useful so he wasn’t left behind.
Felix took a long breath to work through the pain in his arm and then attempted to stand up again, “I’m really okay, boss, I can-”
“Felix!” the Captain snapped, turning his head towards Felix, “You duck and cover, that is an order!” Felix’s mouth snapped shut before he ducked back down behind the crates and waited. He was fucked. And his arm was really beginning to hurt as the adrenaline from the fight started to fade. He hadn’t meant to get injured on his first real outing, that wasn’t part of his own grand plan. He was supposed to tag along with the mysterious ship Captain that showed up out of nowhere to rescue him until that Captain realized how truly valuable he was and let him be a permanent part of the crew.
Felix knew in his heart that the real world wasn’t like the serials he watched, he wasn’t THAT naive. He’d talked to travellers stopping in at the Groundbreaker and knew how rough the colony could really be, but he hoped he could have some part of his fantasy become reality. Instead, he’d broken his damned arm and angered his Captain.
After a few more minutes, the fighting stopped and Captain Hawthorne came running over.
“Felix! Here, I have some adreno, that should get us back to the ship where Ellie can look you over proper,” Captain Hawthorne said, offering Felix the inhaler.
Felix was surprised to hear most of the anger gone from his Captain’s voice. He took the offered inhaler, and seconds later the pain began to subside enough that he wasn’t worried about passing out anymore.
“That was foolish,” Vicar Max chimed in, sauntering over from somewhere close by.
“I was just trying to help,” Felix mumbled, avoiding eye contact with the Vicar.
“Max, that’s not fucking necessary right now, alright?” Captain Hawthorne snapped, “Let’s just get back to the ship, we’re not too far, it should still be a clear walk back.”
Captain Hawthorne helped Felix up and then began walking quickly back towards the ship. It wasn’t that far, of course, because Felix had been hurt 20 minutes into the trip. It was a quiet walk back. The Vicar seemed grumpy about the Captain scolding him, which secretly had made Felix a little happy. The man had been pretty rude since Felix met him, and it was nice seeing him be set straight. But the Captain was quiet, too, and with him wearing the helmet all the time, Felix had no hints as to what was going through the man’s mind.
He was afraid to find out when they returned to the ship. The Captain called for Ellie and explained what happened. She said it would be an easy fix and he should recover in a few days. The Captain nodded, then looked at Felix and said, “When she’s done, come see me in my cabin. I need to talk to you.” Then, he walked off without another word.
Felix spent the entire time Ellie worked on setting his arm feeling like his stomach was in his throat. He realized he was mentally preparing for being abandoned. Again. He hoped Captain Hawthorne was different, but he'd thought the same about Harlow. And look where that left him.
He barely even registered when Ellie warned him it was going to hurt.
“Fuck!” Felix yelled out as Ellie snapped his arm.
“I told you!” Ellie said, already wrapping his arm in the cast bandage, “This will need to stay on for a day, and then I’ll re-evaluate, okay?”
Felix nodded as she carefully applied the hardened material. A few more minutes and he was set. She gave him a piece of fabric to use as a sling, saluted him, and left to go back to her room.
Felix almost felt like he would throw up, and it had nothing to do with his arm. He walked slowly towards the door to Captain Hawthorne’s room. He took a deep breath as he knocked.
“Come in,” Captain Hawthorne said.
Felix pressed the button and the door slid open. Captain Hawthorne was sitting at his desk, and turned in his chair to face him. He was still wearing the helmet and Felix had a horrible feeling he was about be scolded.
Felix wanted to try to make his case before the Captain said what he was about to say, so he started talking immediately, “Captain, I know I messed up today, but I can still prove myself-”
“Whoa, whoa, Felix,” Captain Hawthorne said, standing up. He was shorter than Felix by a few inches, but was still incredibly intimidating. Felix instinctively took a step back, even as Captain Hawthorne reached out to him, “I’m not mad at you, kid, I’m just worried about you. You got pounced on by a fucking Raptidon. And then you tried to jump back into the fight.”
Felix frowned. Of course he’d tried to jump back in, why wouldn't he have? He was still waiting for the other shoe to drop, so he kept quiet. Captain Hawthorne waited another second and shook his head. He motioned at the bunk, “Sit, Felix.”
Felix did as instructed and looked up at his Captain curiously. He still wasn't being yelled at, so that was good.
“I know I snapped at you out on the road. But you were really hurt and trying to put yourself in more danger. When I tell you to do something while we’re in combat, I need you to listen to me, okay? I care about my crew and I want you to be safe.”
Felix was stunned. He had completely misinterpreted his Captain’s intentions with this meeting and he wasn’t sure how to respond. He just nodded dumbly and cast his gaze down. He was pretty sure he knew the answer, but he had to make sure.
“I… I’m sorry, boss,” Felix finally managed to stutter out, “I promise I’ll listen better. Does this mean I’m not… That I’m still part of the crew?”
Captain Hawthorne was taken aback by the question, “What? Of course, you are, Felix. You were never in danger of being kicked off the crew, kid. I just needed you to understand why I snapped at you out there. I just want to protect my crew.” There was a pause and Captain Hawthorne cocked his head to the side. “Even the annoying Vicar who tends to be a pain in the ass.”
Felix’s eyebrows shot up and he tried to suppress his own grin, even as Captain Hawthorne laughed.
“I’ve talked to Vicar Max about not vocalizing all his opinions on everything that's happened. But please try not to antagonize him.”
Felix grinned, “Sure thing, boss. And… Thank you.”
Captain Hawthorne smiled and walked over to put a hand on Felix’s shoulder, “We gotta look out for each other, alright? Now, I know Parvati was worried about you, too. Why don't you go check in with her?”
Felix smiled back, incredibly relieved that he was wrong about his Captain. He wasn't so sure he really deserved the chance that he was getting right now, but he wasn't gonna let that stop him from enjoying himself.
“Sounds like a good idea.” Felix stood to leave, but Captain Hawthorne reached out and gently grabbed his shoulder.
“I wouldn't have said yes to you coming on board if I didn't want you here, kid. I’m never just gonna leave you somewhere alright? We gotta watch out for each other here.”
Felix nodded, and Captain Hawthorne squeezed his shoulder.
“Good, good. Now go, let Parvati know you're not dead.”
Felix gave his Captain a little salute and left the room. Despite the fact that he was sore literally everywhere, and his arm was beginning to ache again, Felix was feeling better than he had in a while.

Accidentally wrote a 5k Felix/Captain fic. This is why I can’t have nice things. Have a lil excerpt because who knows if I’ll ever be finished
_
Zara wandered over to him, taking in his messy dark hair and creased t-shirt. “Did you sleep OK?”
“Hmm? Oh!” Felix straightened up suddenly, almost catching his head on the open fridge door. Helpfully, his near miss made him spot a fresh bottle of Mock-Apple Juice. “Slept like a dream, boss. Can’t believe I got my own cabin!” He started glugging the juice straight from the bottle and Zara did everything she could not to pull a face.
“There are cups over there.” She said, pointing past him to the shelf.
He stopped drinking to breathe. “What did you say? And can I have this? Sorry, shoulda asked.”
Maybe she should have chastised him, or at least frowned a little, but she found herself smiling again. There was something about him that was incredibly charming and he seemed totally oblivious to it. “It’s yours – but just this once.” She took a sip of her Trip-Teaz. “And you might want to use a cup next time. Just so we keep germ spreading to a minimum.”
“Oh, yeah. Course. No worries.”
She took another sip of tea, sneakily studying him as he belatedly poured the juice into a chipped mug. Out of everyone so far, he fascinated her the most. Not because he had a mysterious secret past (Max had that dubious honour) but because of his attitude. She had never met someone who hated so much while being so optimistic and enthusiastic. Zara couldn’t imagine how hard his life had been on the Groundbreaker, scraping by on whatever he could find.
Her life couldn’t have been more different – she had lived in the lap of luxury on Earth, studying law and working a high-flying corporate job alongside her wealthy family. But Felix had no one to look out for him, no one to check in on him, no one to fall back on.
As if he was reading her mind, he said, “We didn’t much care for cups and stuff on the Groundbreaker. Not in the Back Bays, at least. Whatever you found, it was yours, and you drank it as quick as you could.”
She smiled. “Well, you found the juice. So I guess it’s yours.”
He glugged from the cup, draining it in two swallows. He filled it back up to the brim immediately. “Thanks, boss.”
“No problem. Tomorrow, we can work on portion control.” She tapped him gently on the back and was surprised at how warm he was through his t-shirt. She took her hand away quickly and clutched her cup tighter. “Anyway, you’d better get ready. I want you and Ellie to come to Roseway with me today.”

A Team Matter
__
Felix Millstone x Fem. Captain
Warnings: Language
Word Count: 2,036
“This is our mission. You just happen to be the captain of it.”
__
Her team was like family to her. From the young and youthful Parvati to the auto mechanic SAM, every single one of her crew had a special place in her heart. Truth be told, none of the missions she had been on so far would’ve been possible without their help along the way. The Captain admired their hard work ethic and their loyalty. It was rare for any of them to question her judgement or decision making. Whatever she would do or say, they would be there to back her up. That was truly special to her.
That wasn’t to say that they didn’t bump heads with each other every now and then. That was life in a nutshell. It was impossible to get along all the time. 6 different people and 1 robot…all with completely different personalities. It was inevitable for there to be tension and disagreements at times.

Goodnight Kiss
Fandom: The Outer Worlds Pairing: Felix Millstone/Nonbinary Captain (Tibbs) Rating: Teen+ Word Count: 3937 [AO3 link in Comment Section]
————————————-
Tossball, the greatest sport in Halcyon.
Or rather, the only sport in Halcyon.
Either way, Tibbs is a fan… and not just because of present company.  Okay, maybe it hadn’t started that way.  True, the first time they’d asked Felix to explain the rules to them had merely been an excuse to spend more time with him, but since actually hearing the rules they’d fallen head over heels for the game.  Initially it had reminded them of the Earth game lacrosse, but any game that encourages killing your opponent and being disqualified for “overly sportsman-like conduct” definitely had their attention, and now game night had quickly become a standing tradition.
“Hey Nell!  Can you bring us another round?”  Felix called across the room, waving at the bartender.  Tibbs quickly hid their smirk behind their glass as Nell’s gaze settled on them.  Draining the foamy dredges in one gulp, they glanced over at Felix, oblivious and already focused back on the game.
The gnawing pang of jealousy Tibbs had felt upon their first meeting with the tossball loving bartender was nowhere to be found these days and they even managed a genuine grin to counter Nell’s somewhat strained one as she brought their fresh drinks over.  Felix tore his eyes from the screen long enough to thank her before grabbing his glass and nudging Tibbs enthusiastically in the ribs as the Rangers executed a particularly daring play. The disappointment in Nell’s lingering gaze was so obvious it was painful and had her affections been directed anywhere else, Tibbs would have felt sorry for her, maybe even put in a good word for her… but not with Felix.

Happy Felix thoughts
Tumblr media
Just…imagine the sheer joy on his face when you are taking off of the Groundbreaker.
Imagine two decades of wanting someone to believe in you. Wanting someone to give you a chance and at every turn getting told no, being shoved aside, and stuck in some menial job that has no hope or future.
But then this random stranger, this Captain, dime a dozen really, stops. Stops for him, gives him a chance and he proves himself! Oh boy he does!
He’s on the Unreliable and inspecting every inch because this is his ship now! His new home!
Then! Then he’s traveling the fucking world! He’s landing on new planets, facing his dream of being the big shot…but also learning. He’s realizing the world isn’t as it seems and yet through each step his Captain, his crew is right there with him, laughing, joking, supporting him at every turning
maybe even falling in love….
that happiness felt at every step, at every up and down and getting a chance when for so long you could only only dream it up alone.
