Engage, Participate, Vote! Re-elect Jesse White for Secretary of State On November 6th, 2018 from FOREMOST STRATEGY on Vimeo.
I announced my plans to run for reelection for Illinois Secretary of State. After much consideration, I decided that I will seek another term to continue to serve you and to build upon our many successes.
I came to this decision after receiving numerous requests from people around the state, including traffic safety advocates, the organ/tissue donor community, and concerned citizens. In addition, my passion for serving as Illinois Secretary of State is as strong as ever.
It’s true that the Secretary of State’s office is in a far better place now than it was when I first took office. Yet I have more that I want to do.
But first, I’d like to outline some of our key achievements that made roads safer, improved customer service and restored integrity to an office once beset by corruption.
We implemented one of the nation’s best teen driving programs in the nation with our comprehensive Graduated Driver Licensing system. As a result, teen driving deaths have dropped by nearly 50 percent. We are producing safer and better young drivers than we ever have before.
Our efforts to crack down on drunk driving have yielded national recognition, and have positioned Illinois as a national leader. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has awarded Illinois 5 stars – the highest ranking possible – in large part because of my office’s groundbreaking Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device (BAIID) program. I was honored to receive MADD’s prestigious Legislative Champion Award for our efforts to make the roads of Illinois the safest ever. Customer service at the Secretary of State’s office has never been better as we continue to streamline operations and use innovative technology, which has led to significant reductions in wait times at Driver Services facilities. Recently, we upgraded the issuance process and security features to the driver's license/ID card design to better protect citizens from fraud and identity theft.
I am pleased with the work of my Inspector General Jim Burns, former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District, to restore integrity to an office that had once been plagued by institutionalized corruption. We have changed the culture, set a code of conduct for employees and provided Burns with broad power to root out misconduct and wrongdoing.
I am proud of what we have achieved in the Secretary of State’s office. But I have more that I wish to accomplish, including implementing new technologies and further expanding online services, cracking down on distracted driving through tougher laws and innovative public awareness campaigns and continuing our efforts to eliminate drunk driving. I want to continue serving the people of Illinois as their Secretary of State, and I will be asking them for their vote on November 6, 2018.
- Jesse White

47th Ward Alderman Gus Katsafaros press conference from FOREMOST STRATEGY on Vimeo.
Dark money has no place in the 47th Ward Gus Katsafaros Candidate for Alderman of the 47th Ward in response to Pawar rips Ricketts-backed group as flyer furor grows | Crain’s Chicago Business
(Chicago) Forty-seventh Ward Alderman Ameya Pawar criticized a new community group with close ties to the Ricketts family saying that its use of “dark money” to mail thousands of political flyers in the Lakeview neighborhood resembles the tactics of Russian agents and the National Rifle Association. I completely, wholeheartedly agree with Alderman Pawar. Special interests and dark money have no place in the 47th Ward. Forty-seventh Ward residents should make decisions for the forty-seventh Ward and not special interest groups that hide their donors and their dark money We need independent and local leadership in the 47th Ward not rubber stamps for the mayor and especially not outside special interests and billionaires. We are an independent ward and we must remain independent. I am the independent voice in this race and I am beholden to the residents of the 47th ward and I am not beholden to any political organization, special interest groups or Republican billionaires. Dorothy Brown Candidate for Mayor Listening Tour Lower West Side and The Upcoming Listening Tour from FOREMOST STRATEGY on Vimeo.
Mayoral candidate Dorothy Brown continues “Listening Tour” with next stop in the South Lawndale community
Issues surrounding immigration and help for ‘dreamers discussed in most recent meeting
(CHICAGO) – August 22, 2018 – Mayoral candidate Dorothy Brown will continue her Chicago Listening Tour on Tuesday, September 11 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at 2242 S. Damen Ave at Lincoln United Methodist Church. There she will hear from the communities of South Lawndale, Brighton Park, New City, Lower Westside, McKinley Park, Garfield Ridge and Archer Heights.
Earlier this month, Brown visited with resident of Humboldt Park, West Town, Hermosa, Belmont Craigin, Mount Claire, Dunnings, Irving Park and Portage Park. Her community meeting was held at Robles De Justica, 4013 W. Armitage Ave., where residents shared their concerns about immigration and the separation of families, obtaining legal status for Dreamers, and maintaining Chicago’s sanctuary city status. Concerns about accessible health care was discussed, with attendees offering that life expectancy among the undocumented can be cut by up to 20 years.
Issues common to many of the “Listening Tour” stops disused at Robles De Justicia included police brutality, violence, unemployment, and high property taxes all issues they want to see addressed by Dorothy Brown as the next Mayor of the city of Chicago.
Each of Candidate Brown’s meetings are documented, and the information gathered will be used to help formulate Brown’s platform for moving the city of Chicago forward.
As she stated when she announced her bid for Chicago’s mayor, Brown believes to make better choices for the entire city, residents must be heard and their opinions must be considered. This Tour is one tool Brown is using to effectively set goals for the city of Chicago under a Brown administration.
Citizens may visit dorothyformayor to learn more about the “Listening Tour” or to share their opinions and concerns. A full “Listening Tour” schedule is included on the website.

Before opening and operating one of North Center’s favorite restaurants, Marmalade, Gus served the community and the city by working as an electrician and later founding Capital Mortgage and Financial services, Capital Realty and Southside Realty, which provided responsible home loans and affordable housing for residents of Chicago. As a child growing up, Gus learned the trades from his father who was a general contractor who immigrated to the United States from Greece with his mother to start their family, which went on to include four sons and one daughter, Gus being the oldest.
Gus graduated from Mather High School, graduated with a degree in electrical construction from Chicago’s famous Coyne American Institute, and then went on to establishing his real estate ventures. Gus’s brother Steve is still a tradesman and member of Local 1 Carpenters, his sister in law Patty is a member of Local 1 Servers, his cousins Ben and Oliva, and his sister Stella are all members of the Chicago Teacher’s Union. Stella teaches at DeWitt Clinton Elementary where Gus and his 4 siblings, 3 brothers and sister, all attended grammar school. While growing his real estate businesses, Gus gained tremendous experience dealing with local politicians and city officials to further the success of his projects while also ensuring the benefits to the communities he was serving. After years of success in the real estate business, Gus decided to move on to his latest business venture as owner and operator of Marmalade restaurant. He loves working with people and serving customers and friends in the community. Gus has been a frequent advocate and community figure in the 47th Ward, regularly sponsoring local events for Queen of Angels, North Park Elementary, Coonley Elementary, Waters Elementary School, Amundsen High School, Common Pantry, the “I Am Your Neighbor” fundraiser, CAPs meetings, North Center Chamber of Commerce, Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce, Heartland Alliance and virtually all local community events and organizations that benefit the business owners and residents of the 47th Ward.

Mayoral Candidate Dorothy Brown at the Bud Billiken Parade 2018 from FOREMOST STRATEGY on Vimeo.

About
Robert Sengstacke Abbott, a Georgian native and son of freedman slaves, was formally trained as an attorney. However, upon settling in Chicago, he learned the printing trade and founded a newspaper in 1905, still in publication called the Chicago Defender.
He pushed for job opportunities and social justice, and was eager to persuade African Americans to leave the segregated, Jim Crow South for Chicago. A key part of his distribution network was made up of African American railroad porters, who were highly respected among African Americans – adding to the reputation and credibility of the newspaper. The Chicago Defender is often noted as having played a major role in initiating the Great Migration, during 1915-1919, resulting in approximately 1.3 million African Americans to northern cities.
The Bud Billiken Parade and Picnic was born out of a youth section in the newspaper, based on a fictional Billiken character, a guardian angel of children around the world. The parade, which began on August 11, 1929, was intended to be a symbol of pride, happiness and hope, as well as represented unity in diversity for the children of Chicago. It is now the second largest parade in the nation, featuring marching bands, drill and dance teams, cheer and tumbling groups. It has grown to a sponsored event with major corporate donors, civic organizations, politicians, and celebrities, and as such all parade sponsors contribute to a scholarship fund for local youth.
The parade has been managed by the Chicago Defender Charities since 1945 and continued under the leadership of John H.H. Sengstacke until his passing in 1997. Myiti Sengstacke-Rice now continues the legacy of 4 generations – she was voted President and CEO in February 2017.

Candidate Dorothy Brown urges criminal and social justice reform, coupled with high-quality education, economic development, and jobs to stem tide of violence
This past weekend we reached an unimaginable milestone of gun violence in our city, with 73 people shot and 11 killed. As in past occurrences, most of the victims were children, teens and young adults on the south and west sides. First and foremost, I grieve with these families who are dealing with the injury and death of their loved ones. I am a mother, and it is unfathomable for me to conceive of sending my child out for an evening and then never seeing her again. But I am also angry, and I think all Chicagoans should be angry by the violence plaguing our city. It is not up to one precinct, or one neighborhood, or even one community to bear the burden to fix this problem. No Chicagoan should fear for his or her life.
I know there is no quick fix for this issue, and yes there must be more done to stop the flow of guns into our city, but most importantly we must fix the social ills that plague our city. These same youth that are engaged in this violence must be provided a high-quality education, there must be fair and equitable economic development for all neighborhoods that lead to jobs. They must have an alternative to crime. They must be able to take care of their families.
Finally, I will work toward criminal and social justice reform that reshapes the entire criminal justice system, from the police to the jails, to the courtroom, to the prisons. We all must work together to fix this problem!
