it's truly amazing how much attention to detail was put into it chapter 2 like with eddie's license plate adding up to 27, the posters in the background of certain shots, the layers behind every single choice they made on set and while editing, and yet the movie still absolutely sucks when it comes to characterization and plot. incredible.

No but fuck having psychotic symptoms while both being self aware enough to be worried about them and being psychotic enough not to be able to not believe them/acknowledge them. Let me be delirious with psychosis or let me be sane I don’t want this sad middle road where I’m sane enough to be worried but sick enough not to be able to change anything.

Stan and Richie make a pact that they’re both going to lose their virginity by senior prom. Mike overhears them, and bets that they can’t do it. 

Richie loves to make things interesting, the whole while Stan is pulling on his hair in distress. Please don’t make things interesting, Richie. Let things be simple for once. 

Mike makes his wager. If Richie and Stan can get the two most popular jocks in school to 1) go to prom with them, and 2) take their virginities, Mike will give them his beloved pickup truck. If not, they each give him a hundred dollars. They’re not sure what use they’ll have for it in New York, but they want that truck. So they agree.

Well it’s more Richie agrees while Stan doesn’t explicitly disagree. 

So now they have to get Bill Denbrough and Eddie Kaspbrak to notice them, like them, ask them to prom, and then fuck them. It seems overwhelming, at least for Stan. But he made the initial pact with Richie. He assumed he’d have to fuck someone on the mathletes but they’re all ugly, no shade. 

Richie thinks this is a great opportunity. “I’ve seen the way you stare at Bill Denbrough.” 

“Yeah, only because he’s the hottest boy in school. He’d never even notice someone like me.” 

And Richie just fake laughs. “My friend, you have so much to learn.” 

And Richie’s right, because Bill has definitely been noticing Stan for years but Stan is so standoffish that Bill has been too afraid to approach him. Richie’s task is much harder, because Eddie has never paid much thought to Richie before, except staring all disgruntled whenever Richie is being really loud in homeroom. And yet there is something intriguing about Richie that Eddie can’t deny.

And, because there wouldn’t be much of a story if they fail to go to prom, they both successfully obtain their dates, after some shenanigans and awkward misunderstandings of course. However, the ~twist~ is that in the preceding weeks to prom, they both fall in love, and both decide that they don’t want to rush into sex for some stupid bet. Well, I mean Richie and Eddie trade desperate bone dry handjobs in the bathroom but Richie defines losing one’s virginity as penetration of some kind so he insists it doesn’t count. This is mostly to make Stan feel better but also because when he has “real” sex he’d like it to be… better. The gag.

Mike is very smug. “I knew you wouldn’t do it.” And the funny closer is that Mike actually made the bet with all of them. He knows Bill and Eddie too, and also offered them his truck if both of them had sex with Stan and Richie. And now all his friends are together and he has 400 bucks.

eddie wasn’t an angry person who was unnecessarily mean to richie, he thought richie was funny, he laughed at his jokes, he was so soft and sweet and loyal to his friends and people have to know it!!!!!!!!!!! i read a lot of things that characterise him as overly rude to richie and seemingly having genuine dislike for him, and it makes me so sad because it isn’t true :(
