Bryan has repeatedly rolled of the couch right before his alarm goes off, not enough to be simi daily but enough to make him think the universe decided to play a mean joke on him

silent knight AU

GingerBrave felt… off.

From what he can guess it started when they got to the silver tree, gazing up at the pure white branches shaped into the inverted soul jams of the heroes he's met and been inspired by when

A sharp prickle stabs him in the back of his throat immediately causing his body to sharply convulse with a deep cough. 

“GingerBrave?”

The ginger flavored cookie looks up as he swipes the back of his wrist at his mouth, meeting the concerned eye of wizard.

“Are you alright friend? You aren't falling ill are you?”

Pure vanilla's hand comes to a gentle rest on his back as the ancient bends down to be on his eye level.

“No no I'm fine! I think I just breathed wrong, no worries!”

Wizard squints at him before letting out a huff

“If you say so but if you get sick later don't start crying to us.”

Strawberry gives wizard a look, who has turned away and keeps glancing at Gingerbrave when they think they're not looking, before gently patting the ginger cookie on the shoulder. 

“Tell us if you start to feel sick, my friend.”

“Will do pure vanilla.”

Gingerbrave grins up at him and receives a gentle smile back as the ancient runs a hand gently over his head, smoothing out his hair.

The converstion with elder fairy seems distant afterwords, gingerbrave unable to focus on the words spoken less so then normal, with the young cookie stealing glances at the tree contained at the civlaztions center. The branch shaped into the inverse of White lily cookies soul jam always being there to catch his eye when he glanced up.

Gingerbrave eyes tiredly blink open to the stars above, his mind slowly registering the fact. A few quick head turns adds on the realization he's not near where they camped last night, startling the young cookie into shooting up. A bit too quickly… coughs shake GingerBrave form as the prickle at the back of his throat returns with a vengeance leaving the poor boy breathless for a moment. 

He feels so… gritty? He doesn't know how to say it, wizards always been better with words, not him. Like when your at a beach party and sand gets into your food.

He shakes his head groaning in displeasure due to the feeling before carefully scaling down the tree he's in, dropping to the forest floor with an oddly heavier than normal thud. Weird. 

“Gingerbrave! Where are you!?”

Any concern for the weight of his drop is ignored the second he hears wizards voice, the mildly egotistical screech tinged with unusual worry.

“Young GingerBrave! Where are you?”

“Guys-!” 

More coughs shake his frame for a moment as the words are torn from his mouth by pure instinct, the sound plus his shout managing to draw his friends to him. The brush in front of him violently rustling before a frazzled looking strawberry emerges from it quickly followed by pure vanilla then white lily and wizard, the mage clearly having fought to keep up with them.

“Are you ok?!”

Strawberry squeaks out the words, yanking on her hoodie strings while pure vanilla drops down to his level to check him for injuries. 

“Y-yea! Of course I am!”

“Then why are you coughing again?” Wizard deadpans “you wouldn't be coughing if you were fine.”

“My throats just a bit dry-”

He jerks his face into his elbow as another cough shakes him. Dry is lightly putting how bad his throat feels. It's like someone made him eat salt the past few days with no water.

“Well then you should drink something. Here.” 

White lily quickly digs into her bag and fishes out a spare water bottle the fairies insisted they bring and presses it into GingerBrave hands.

“No no we’re almost to the fairy kingdom. I'll be fine until then-”

“Drink the water! It sounds like you're dying right now from how dry your throat obviously is.”

Gingerbrave blinks at wizard for a moment as the shorter cookie levels a glare at him.

“Hydration is important for any adventure to keep going young GingerBrave.”

The cookie just sighs in response uncapping the bottle and chugging a decent amount of it.

“Are you feeling better now?”

Not really… The water barely did anything to help.

“Yea!” 

“Good. Now can you explain why you disappeared last night?”

“Uh…” 

That's a good question. How did he get over here? He doesn't remember getting up.

“I dont know…”

“Is it possible you were sleepwalking?”

“What's that?”

Wizard sighs in mild disappointment.

“It's when you get up and do stuff like you're awake but you're actually still sleeping.”

“Oh! Well I don't remember waking up so it must have been that!”

Strawberry sighs, likely from relife, before squeezing GingerBrave in a quick hug  

“Should we get going…? We already took a while to find GingerBrave so we’re a bit off path…”

“Ah yes we should. When we return to the fairy kingdom we should ask for anything that could help GingerBraves throat should it continue to be a bother.”

White lily and wizard nod in agreement while GingerBrave himself practically melts from embarrassment over their worry for him.

…

Heavy thunks ring around the little bubble he's in slightly startling him.

“Young cookie…”

GingerBraves head shoots up from his arms immediately locking eyes with the slits in the helmet. 

The second his mind regstures those ‘eyes’ he scrambles back slamming his back into the unseen barrier around him.

“Shhh… it is alright… I will not hurt you…”

Silent salt carefully lowers themself to the ‘ground’ crossing their legs and folding their hands in their lap.

“Why should I trust you!?”

The words are westaled from GingerBraves throat and mixed with the glare he levels at the beast seem to actually gather a mildly surprised reaction from them. 

“Reasonable… you don't have a reason to trust me… however… the fact I could attack you and havent thus far… should stand for something…”

GingerBrave curls into a tighter ball and gives what he hopes is a harsher glare.

“You wish to defeat dark enchantress… yes?”

“Y-yea what about it.”

Silent salt hums nodding.

“I understand why… while i do not care if she lives or not… I do care what she is creating.” 

“Creating…?” 

“An… abomination that spits in the face of cookie kind. Something that should be shattered into dust and wiped from existence.”

GingerBrave jolts back as silent salt snarls and slams an armor clad fist into the ground.

The beast sighs, shaking their head.

“I ask that you forgive me… for possessing you… if i had a choice… I would do this alone…”

“...why didn't you get shadow milk to destroy it…?”

“Him and the others do not care… much… however you. You understand. You know that if that thing is compleated. It will bring the war to a close. And not for you or your friends.”

“...”

“Then why didn't you try to escape when shadow milk did…?”

“I wasn't aware before he tried… he knows I wish to be left alone…”

“Hm…” 

Silence consumes them for a while before GingerBrave offers a simple question.

“When your quests done. Will you leave…?”

“...”

“I will.”

headcannon time

-GingerBraves cane is an actual cane not just a weapon, it’s for chronic pain he has mostly in his feet on account of being over baked.

-peak ADHD he cannot stay still or he will go insane.

-has a like a light switch either built into or glued or something on the handle of his cane, so quite moments with him are never quite quite it’s quite with a background of CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICK.

-for more human design: the good old dress shirt with vest over top with shorts with a pair of boots, however there’s also the Gingerbrave hoodie from the mycookie outfit that he has for colder areas. (Townsquare saw him wearing it and recreated it, the og was made by strawberry because Gingerbrave wanted to somewhat match her and wizard.)

-hoodie has the usual little gingerbread man designs but it also has stars and strawberry’s decorating it(mostly on the sleeves and hoodie pockets
