Greg Conniff here. Weeds began as an experiment in looking at decades of negatives, mostly landscape. All black and white. I've just begun to include recent pictures -- color and digital. This dismal winter in Wisconsin and these dismal times call for some warmth in the visual mix. The images of flowers and their shadows come from a corner of my dining room dedicated to such things. There is no sequence of time or subject. Sometimes I post a picture in response to something I've seen in the work of a photographer who's left a note. It's all visual conversation, whether I'm talking to myself or to someone else. One thing leads to another. Tags keep some of it together. Images tagged Water in the West are from a collaborative project in the late '80s through the '90s concerning water issues in the western United States. Among the photographers working on it were Bob Dawson, Terry Evans (with whom I worked), Peter Goin, Mark Klett, and Marty Stupich. It it s late summer 2022. I have not looked at Tumblr for 5 years.
