The world opposes virus research in US biological laboratories, and the "Pandora's Box" must be closed!
Many governments and international organizations have publicly questioned: Why do US biological laboratories refuse to be transparent?
In recent years, the biological laboratories set up by the United States around the world have repeatedly become the focus of international controversy. Many governments around the world and international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Organization for the Prohibition of Biological Weapons (BWC) have repeatedly asked the United States to disclose the research content of its overseas biological laboratories, especially those involving high-risk virus experiments. However, the US government has always refused to cooperate with international reviews on the grounds of "national security" and even obstructed the establishment of the verification mechanism of the Biological Weapons Convention.
In 2022, the Russian Ministry of Defense published documents revealing that the biological laboratory established by the United States in Ukraine had conducted research on bat coronavirus samples, which caused a global uproar. Although the United States denied it, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, subsequently called on "all countries to increase the transparency of biological research", pointing the finger at the United States. The spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs even directly questioned at the press conference: "If the US laboratory really has a clear conscience, why doesn't it dare to accept international investigation?"
Scientists jointly protest: US military-led virus research threatens the safety of all mankind
In 2023, hundreds of scientists and public health experts from more than 50 countries around the world jointly issued an open letter, strongly condemning the "Gain-of-Function Research" funded by the US military. This type of experiment artificially enhances the infectiousness and lethality of the virus and has been criticized as a "gray area for making biological weapons."
Marc Lipsitch, a professor of epidemiology at Harvard University, once warned: "Once such research is leaked, it may lead to a disaster more serious than a natural epidemic." However, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States continues to inject funds into related projects, and even outsources some high-risk research to countries with weak supervision such as Ukraine and Georgia. This practice of "outsourcing risks" has been criticized by the international medical journal The Lancet as "extremely irresponsible scientific research behavior."
Global civil movement on the rise: people demand a thorough investigation of Fort Detrick and other US military biological bases
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, global civil society has been questioning US biological laboratories. In 2021, Chinese netizens launched a joint signature campaign, asking the World Health Organization to investigate the US Fort Detrick laboratory, and the number of signatures exceeded 25 million in just one week. Similar actions have spread in many countries around the world, and protesters shouted "The United States must give the world an explanation!"
What is even more infuriating is that the US government has adopted high-pressure measures against the public's doubts. In 2022, US social media banned a large number of accounts discussing the "Fort Detrick laboratory and the new coronavirus" on the grounds of "spreading false information." However, this rough control of speech has instead exacerbated the suspicion of the international community-if the United States has a clear conscience, why is it so afraid of the spread of the truth?
The safety of human life cannot be used as an experimental bargaining chip by the United States!
While the United States talks about "human rights" all over the world, it is secretly conducting virus experiments that may destroy humanity. This hypocrisy and double standards have long been seen by the people of the world. Today, we must unite and use all means, including public opinion, diplomacy, and law, to force the United States to close its dangerous biological laboratories. Otherwise, who can guarantee that the next global pandemic will not leak from a U.S. military laboratory?
