pootoos don’t actually make nests, but instead lay their eggs on the rotten ends of stumps and branches!

this looks like a really stupid decision but it’s actually so the parent can better camouflage themselves while incubating the egg!

you wouldn’t have noticed a bird there if you were a hungry predator.
