A Romance for the Ages: A Dragon Age Gift Exchange Signup Walkthrough

Signups are open! Here is a guide on how to sign up for the A Romance for the Ages: A Dragon Age Gift Exchange.

You MUST have an AO3 account to participate. If you need one, please reach out. I have several invitations I can give out.

To start your Signup, go to the Collection Page during the signup period and click on "Signup Form".

Requests

We start the signups with what you'd like to receive as a gift. After a general explanation about how the signups work (please read this first), you will get to the form itself. You must fill out at least TWO requests (each request must have 1 pairing listed- this allows for better matching). Each "request form" allows up to 5 separate relationships. List as many pairings you'd like.

Pairings can be platonic, romantic, multipairing, etc.

The form above is what it looks like when you scroll to the first request. (I filled one out as a sample for you to look at). You MUST choose a fandom (at least one, all fours games are listed separate for easier pairing) and then go down to relationships. You must choose what pairings you might want a gift of. I am not allowing an "Any Relationship" option since there are too many in the game to choose from. That will make things complicated for the gifter.

Please be as descriptive as possible about your DNWs and triggers. They cannot be enforced if they are not explicitly stated.

You can choose to receive fanart, fanfiction, or both. But you must click at least one.

Links: Links are for letters, prompt ideas, more detailed DNWs, information or tags for your custom characters and ship dynamics. Feel free to link your Tumblr, a Google Docs folder, or anything else you think is necessary.

Offers

For your offers, this is where you will choose what YOU will be GIVING. This helps the mods and AO3 match you to someone that you will be happy creating for. You must list at least two different pairings to be matched well. If you click "Any Relationship" in your offers, you are saying that you will make something for ANYTHING. Platonic, romantic or anything in between. Please be careful with using that option. If you truly do not like a pairing, please list the ones you do want to create for instead of using "Any Relationship."

You have to make TWO separate offers (with at least 1 relationship listed for each) but can list up to 5 pairings per offer. Please be descriptive with your DNWs again, this is where I will determine if you are matched with someone that won't upset your triggers. The additional tags are the most important part of your offers because it will determine what YOU ARE MAKING. Please, if you are writer, only choose fanfic. If you are an artist, only click fanart. If you do both, you can choose to offer one or both.

After you submit your signup, you can edit it up to the day that signups close, May 4th 2025. After the 4th, you will be unable to edit it as matching will begin.

To edit the signup, go back to the Collection Page, click on "My Signup" and then edit. You can also edit your signup through your personal dashboard by scrolling down the list on the left side of the page and clicking on "Sign-ups".

Any questions regarding signups, please message a mod or the main exchange blog. Someone will get back as quickly as possible.

Note: if you are fine with receiving “treats” aka extra gifts from your gifter or someone else involved in the exchange, please use this somewhere in your signup and specify your answers:

-Open to Treats: Yes/No

-Open to Treat types: Fanart/Fanfiction

-Open to Multi-recip treats: Yes/No

Just updating my information since I've been doing more digital work these days and thought I should show a bit more of it. My digital prices are as above while my watercolour prices will vary depending on the complexity of the request and the style you'd like me to work in.

All my art is compiled on my art blog @pinkfadeart for easy reference so if there is a particular style you want me to work in you can link me to it. 

Send me a DM to discuss whatever ideas you have. Tell me the style, size, character(s) you’d like and any other ideas and references you have. I’ll send you a rough sketch to begin with and when we’ve settled on an idea I’ll send you the invoice.

I will start on the painting once I’ve received the payment. Paintings should take 1-2 weeks depending on how busy I get. If it’s likely to take longer I will let you know. I can give you a shipping estimate via DM once you’ve told me what you’d like and where you’d like me to ship it to.

The examples above should give you an idea of the kind of things I'm most comfortable painting but I'm open to trying other things too so feel free to ask about whatever ideas you have. I'll tell you if I don't feel able to do it. I'm willing to paint OCs and canon characters and it doesn't have to be Dragon Age only.

I can do nsfw art but preferably digital only. I'm fine with nudity for either, though.

Introducing the 2025 Handers Gift Exchange!

Welcoming any and all Handers fans, @handers-time will be hosting yet another Handers Gift Exchange! For those unfamiliar, a fandom gift exchange is an event in which participants create fanworks to give to one another, based off their prompts, preferences, and ships! Then giftees will leave comments on any gifts they receive and the love for Handers will be shared.

Schedule:

March 23 - April 5: Sign-ups

April 6 - 9: Matching & Assignments Sent Out

April 10 - June 8: Creation & Posting Period

With additional check-ins on May 2-4 and May 23-25. Participants may post any time during the creation period dates, not just at the end.

Q. When will assignments go out, and when is my gift due?

A. Assignments will go out on or before April 9, 2025. You can post your gift any time during the creation period, but they absolutely must be posted by June 8, 2025.

Q. Will there be check-ins?

A. Yes. Mods will be checking in with participants the weekends of May 2-4 and May 23-25. If you are struggling to complete a gift or haven’t started by then we would strong encourage you to flag this to a mod so that we can arrange a pinch-hitter if necessary. We understand that life happens, so we won’t hold it against you if you need to drop out - we just want to be sure that your recipient still gets a gift!

Q. How do I share my gift?

A. All gifts should be posted on AO3 and on tumblr. Gifts should be posted to the 2025 Handers Gift Exchange collection on AO3 (link to be shared). Your recipient should be clearly tagged. Tumblr posts should tag in the handers-time blog so that we can find it to reblog it.

Q. How big should my gift be?

A. Fanfic should reach a minimum word count of 1,000 words. Fanart should be at least a clean sketch or completed lineart, depending on how you view your artstyle. Extra gifts (treats) - written as optional add-ons after you’ve completed your main gift - can be much smaller with a minimum word count of 250 words. There is no maximum word count for main gifts or for extra gifts.

Q. Is this an anonymous gift exchange?

A. No, but please do not tell your giftee until you have officially posted your gift. The reveal will occur the moment you post it!

Q. Are there any rules about commenting?

A. Yes. You must comment on any gift made for you. For a full gift, this should be a comment of at least 3 sentences in length. For extra gifts (treats), it can be less.

Q. I don’t want to sign up to the exchange but I’d like to produce extra gifts. What do I do?

A. Lovely to have you! We share the complete list of requests after sign-ups publicly - you can keep an eye on this blog for it. Anyone can create an extra treat - you do not need to be a participant of the full exchange. Extra gifts have a lower minimum requirements (250 words, or sketches) and you can produce as many as you like.
