Another bit of a late post but the Heavensturn event gave me a very nice top for a new SAM glam for the Lad.

And the Manderville sword actually goes real well with it if you don’t want to revel in just beating up great evil entities with a wooden training blade.

So, in apologies, here’s a Lad enjoying the Island Sanctuary (at a variety of sizes). I’ve taken to using the top you got at level 10 as a pretty good casual outfit for him. It’s very nice for him.

FFxiv 30 Day Writing Challenge SEPTEMBER 1st - 30th, 2021

Welcome to YEAR 5 of our annual FFxiv 30 Day Writing Challenge, folks!

In 2017 we saw 2,451 written pieces ranging from three-lined haikus to multi-paged stories. 2018 saw 3,641 written pieces, and 2019 ramped up even more with 6,543 written pieces counted. And last year, in 2020, we had 8,757 total counted entries!

That means that in 4 years you’ve collectively written 21,392 pieces for this challenge!! That’s frickin’ amazing!

Here’s the gist:

Runs from September 1st - 30th, 2021. During that time frame:

Visit sea-wolf-coast-to-coast​ once a day at 12:00pm (noon) PDT for the prompt of the day. Convert to your timezone accordingly. All prompts will be one word or brief phrase that you can interpret however you please.

You have 24 hours to write something for that prompt.

Hello! Im super sorry if this has been answered before but I was wondering where you get all your cute lala poses? :) I feel like it's easy to find poses for other races but not for popoto :(

Honestly, there's two ways I've gone about it!

There ARE some poses that are specifically for Lalafell that I snatch up whenever I see them. I don't really have one particular place where I've picked them up, just scrounging them up wherever I can like some sort of pose scavenger.

However, you can also make non-popoto poses work for them as well with a bit of work. So several of my poses are actually not specifically for Lalafell at all, but ones I modified into working for them! Usually you just need to adjust some limbs a little and it'll be fine.

These two are a good example of that. It was for a non-Lalafell and I just went "I must have this" and made the necessary adjustments to make it work!

I hope that helps, and apologies if it's a bit of a non-answer, as there's no repository of Lalafell poses that I am privy to. :(

... PLD, meanwhile, is still stuck on timeworn artifacts (which require either Delubrum or PotD runs) so that one may take a wee bit longer to catch up.

A Very Important Message from Soken & Yoshi-P (FFXIV Fan Fest 2021)

Discussion of Soken’s secret battle against cancer over 2020. He is currently (May 2021) in remission, and spent FanFest partying and rocking out for his friends and fans, and looks forward to continuing to make music with his team.

Watching the end of Fanfest and it hit everyone in the feels. To hear about Soken and his battle against cancer for the majority of the past year only to recently be told he is in remission hits hard. He told no one and seeing the impact he has not only with us as a community but with the dev team shows that they are family. Yoshi-P broke down in tears and I'm not ashamed to say the same. We don't deserve the dev team.

... Jokes aside, I was thinking/hoping that the Namingways/Hummingways would be one of the new Endwalker beast tribes when we learned we were going to the moon - and with all the FF4 aesthetics and references. I’m surprisingly happy that I was on the mark for this one!

Also, very glad I was on the mark when I figured Yoshi P and then would use the “loophole” that Male Viera and Female Hrothgar technically aren’t new races - it’s just finishing two incomplete races. I’m sure folks are a bit sad we got one and not both together, but getting one with a promise that the other is coming is still great to hear.

That said, I’m certainly not any sort of oracle. I was very much stuck on Necromancer being the new melee job. Even with the idea of it wearing the Dragoon-style heavy armor. Figured that it’d temporarily raise the dead or have an ashkin partner that was more support than pet (due to the statement against more pet-type regular classes a while back), which isn’t too far removed from what we actually got but... there were definitely some people who were way closer on the mark with that one.

I has got me wondering if I should throw out some of my other predictions I’ve made for Endwalker, though. See what else I might be foreseeing correctly (or comically of the mark on). Things like...

Well, let’s put these under spoilers... just in case.

Old Theory:

I’ve had a running theory for a while that the Sound that caused the End of Days situation for Amaurot was never actually removed. Just sealed away by Zodiark and then maintained by Hydaelyn.

My original thought was that once the Hydaelyn/Zodiark situation was dealt with (via Zenos pulling a Shinryu with Zodiark and the WoL having to do the same with Hydaelyn for one Final Face-off that uses up the power of the two Original Primals), this block would be gone. And the whole of the Star would have to come together to deal with the threat that had suddenly returned, without the “benefit” of just... sacrificing a large percentage of the planet’s population to lock it away via Super-Primal. The Scions would travel the world in search of assistance to poetically show the strength of the “sundered, lesser people” by doing what the Amaurotine couldn’t - deal with this problem once and for all.

Part of me still thinks this is going to happen after seeing the trailer and watching the keynote. However, there are some points that may be adjusted to fit it. Like what causes the return of the Sound isn’t the removal of Zodiark and Hydaelyn through that battle... but through Fandaniel’s antics with the towers. The opening of the trailer basically repeating back Emet’s description of the End of Days at first before diverging off... it just makes sense to me.

As I write this, remembering G’raha’s comments about how the star still has its tales to tell... I wonder if perhaps the Sound itself was actually the original Will of the Planet (rather than the artificial one of Zodiark) reacting to all the aether usage by the Amaurotine. And Fandaniel’s antics is just stirring that up again while both Hydaelyn and Zodiark are too weak to keep it under control.

The great secret being that the Star really is “alive”... and the past incident was not unlike with FF7′s world and the whole mako/lifestream situation. Just with the planet retaliating on its own.

New Theories:

These are a lot less fully fledged (or just not stuff I could go for paragraphs on) and so I’ll just bullet point them.

The structure in Garlemald is the Tower of Babel/Zot. I had inklings of it due to the FF4 themes of Endwalker, and I feel like it’s seemingly confirmed by the dungeon crawl clip’s music of choice. Part of me is hoping that the Four Fiends are going to be involved as bosses or something like that.

The floating islands shown in art only is Mysidia. Again, both due to the FF4 aesthetic and - if I recall my Final Fantasy lore correctly - the original Mysidia shown in one of the other games (I want to say... FF3?) was a floating island.

This one’s more of a joke idea... but I wonder if Labyrinthos is directly under Old Sharlayan. Basically like Old New York under New New York in Futurama. I mentioned it just as a gag, but someone pointed out that the song lyrics involve digging down... and it makes me wonder how literal that is...

Pandaemonium is basically the underworld in FF2. So given that and that our old friend Lahabrea is the figurehead of it... it makes me wonder if we’re going to go into wherever the Ascians have been banished to. Or he just survived again somehow in some limbo area he can’t escape.

And there we go! Putting out some old and new thoughts to replace the one that got confirmed like some sort of crazy Musing Hydra. Let’s see if any of them are anywhere close to my Hummingway Beast Tribe guess once Endwalker drops at the end of November!
