Variety of Application Software
a.) Packaged software, also called a software package, is software that is often used together, performs similar functions, or includes similar features, and is bundled together as a set of software programs. For example, Microsoft Office is packaged software, including multiple software programs used in a home or office, such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Powerpoint. Video and audio editing software may be available as packaged software as well, as they may be used together for editing music and video files used in a movie.
b.) Custom software (also known as bespoke software or tailor-made software) is software that is specially developed for some specific organization or other user. As such, it can be contrasted with the use of software packages developed for the mass market, such as commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software, or existing free software.
c.)a web application or web app is a client–server software application in which the client (or user interface) runs in a web browser.[1] Common web applications include webmail, online retail sales, online auctions, wikis, instant messaging services and many other functions.
d.)Open-source software (OSS) is computer software with its source code made available with a license in which the copyright holder provides the rights to study, change, and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose.
e.) Shareware is a type of proprietary software which is initially provided free of charge to users, who are allowed and encouraged to make and share copies of the program.Shareware is often offered as a download from a website or as a compact disc included with a magazine.
f.) Freeware is software that is available for use at no monetary cost. In other words, while freeware may be used without payment it is most often proprietary software, as usually modification, re-distribution or reverse-engineering without the author's permission is prohibited.
e.) Public-domain software is software that has been placed in the public domain: in other words, there is absolutely no ownership such as copyright, trademark, or patent.

The types of application software used in communications.
Communication software allows you to connect with other computers or mobile devices via text, video or audio formats in either a synchronous or asynchronous manner. While some means of communication, such as email, are asynchronous, Web conferencing and video chat are synchronous -- allowing all parties to communicate in real-time. Video messaging offers a choice of either method. Some communication software is only available for mobile devices; others can be used on computers as well

Web Applications
A web application is a software application that runs on a remote server. In most cases, Web browsers are used to access Web applications, over a network, such as the Internet. Some web applications are used in intranets, in companies and schools, for example. Web applications are different from other applications because they do not need to be installed.

Key Features of Widely used graphics and multimedia p
Tumblr media
Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computer systems (or workstations) to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design.[1] CAD software is used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation, and to create a database for manufacturing.[2] CAD output is often in the form of electronic files for print, machining, or other manufacturing operations. The term CADD (for Computer Aided Design and Drafting) is also used.[3]
features multimedia Authoring Software Authoring Software is the main production tool for multimedia. An Authoring System is a program which has pre-programmed elements for the development of interactive multimedia software titles. Authoring systems vary widely in orientation, capabilities, and learning capabilities of the user. Most of the authoring systems require some basic knowledge of heuristic thinking and algorithm design. Authoring actually is just a speed-up form of programming; although you need not know the intricacies of a programming language, or an API, but you do need to understand
how programs work. A web authoring package is specifically designed to allow you to create web pages and web sites.  Examples include Dreamweaver and Microsoft Front Page.

The ability of any website or a web application to attract and engage users ultimately depends on how well the user interface is designed. Even the best developed service or product will be a failure if the user finds it to be too complicated to navigate or too confusing and feels it is monotonous or unattractive. A good user interface allows the user to carry out the intended actions efficiently and effectively, without causing too much of a distraction. User interface is the only way you can communicate with your client accessing your site remotely.

There are four categories of application software:business, graphics and multimedia,home/personal/education, and communications.Probably the most well known business application is Microsoft Office, which includesword processing (Word), spreadsheet (Excel), Database (Access) and Presentationgraphics (PowerPoint).Word processing software creates text documents; from memos and letters to researchpapers – anything that requires “writing”.Documents can be easily modified; font style, size or color, paragraph style, word wrapping, spelling. You can move text, either aselection of words or entire sentences or paragraphs, and insert graphs, tables orpictures, among other things.Spreadsheets organize data (numbers) in columns and rows, and perform mathcalculations and functions (predefined formulas).Users can enter their own data in thespreadsheet, and the application can perform functions (apply formulas) to create newresults from the entered data, including graphs.Database software is similar to spreadsheets in that they contain tables (related rowsand columns) of data, but the difference is that a database allows for easy managementand retrieval of that data.Queries are run to extract data in presentable results, like ascreen shot or a report.Presentation Graphics is a effective visual aid to present data or ideas.Software willinclude predefined layouts for graphics like bar charts, pie charts or bullet point text. Each page is referred to as a slide.Slides can incorporate text, charts or pictures.
