im going to become the joker!! endpapers by themselves are NOT ENOUGH HINGE SUPPORT for heavy photo paper textblocks and it's time we stopped pretending that they are >:C

anyway @official-kircheis my recommendation is to get some tyvek and book glue (a clean tyvek envelope is fine). cut a piece of tyvek around 3x as wide as the spine and almost as long, glue it to the textblock spine (depending on how glue-coated the spine already is, you might want to also reheat the extant glue with a hairdryer for better adhesion). carefully lift the endpapers away from the covers with a knife; tuck the tyvek between the endpapers and the cover boards and glue it to the covers on each side (be careful to give the hinges enough room that the book closes fully). you can also just give up on salvaging the endpapers and glue some nice scrapbooking paper or something over the tyvek when you're done. this is a little hacky but you shouldn't need much equipment other than the glue and it ought to hold up MUCH better.

bought a photo book and this is the condition it arrived in. is this some kind of joke bookbinding technique where the pages are not supposed to be attached to the spine or. what is going on here.

was watching a sewing youtube video the other day while sewing and the youtuber was installing some hyperspecific needle and went "now in situations like this i like to use this cool 'help' feature my sewing machine has, where you can pull up little guides on the touchscreen, very convenient"
