We think that society’s emphasis on assigned binary gender roles is harmful, damaging, and often violent, and this is a statement against that. The statement is phrased declaratively but we fully advocate for and respect all gender identities.

Ten, fifteen years ago, there were no resources for people like me. What people I saw that were even a little bit like me in media were generally white, and not exactly portrayed in a flattering light. Nearly everything on trans or GNC people was written, photographed and interpreted through a purely cis, often heterosexual cis white male POV. Now that's changing. And I would like it to continue to change.
