The displaced in Darfur camps again appealed to the international community to help them by sending urgent humanitarian aid, as security and health conditions are worsening and the number op people dying of hunger and thirst is rapidly growing. The Darfur Bar Association (DBA) conference on humanitarian needs in the region will be held in the Kalma camp in South Darfur.
On Wednesday, community leaders in Kalma camp for displaced people near Nyala, capital of South Darfur, sent a new call to the “all humanitarian organisations,” in particular the UN World Food Programme (WFP), asking them to intervene immediately to save the displaced people from starvation.
Residents of El Salam camp in Beleil, southeast of Nyala, reported acute malnutrition among children and the elderly due to the lack of food. They said that most people in the camp resorted to eating locusts and doum palm fruits. “The number of malnutrition cases in the camp grows with 10 people per day,” El Hadi Abdallah told Radio Dabanga from El Salam camp yesterday. “If possible, they are transferred to Kalma camp, where there is at least a bit of health care left.” Adam Ishag, members of the camp’s youth administration said that “each day, a person, often a child, dies of hunger”. He added that “many a time, we cannot move patients to Kalma camp due to the lack of money for their transportation”.

Hundreds of Jewish anti-war demonstrators have been arrested during a Passover seder that doubled as a protest in New York, as they shut down a major thoroughfare to pray for a ceasefire and urge the Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer, to end US military aid to Israel.
The 300 or so arrests took place on Tuesday night at Grand Army Plaza, on the doorstep of Schumer’s Brooklyn residence, where thousands of mostly Jewish New Yorkers gathered for the seder, a ritual that marked the second night of the holiday celebrated as a festival of freedom by Jews worldwide.
The seder came just before the US Senate resoundingly passed a military package that includes $26bn for Israel.

‼️‼️
If you're having trouble keeping up with what's going on in Palestine because of US news coverage of university protests, here are some articles you can read and a video you can watch:
youtube
While CNN & all the other mainstream media try to paint the university protests as "pro terrorism" (which they're not, they're literally anti-war protests.) Palestinians are being slaughtered by the minute.
Please don't stop speaking about Palestine.

Please help an Iraqi trans woman seek asylum! She is a friend of one of my good friends and I've spoken to her before. Her situation has been very difficult and it has not been easy for her to make this choice to ask for help. Chip in what you are able, she's a great comrade and I really want her to get to safety.

somehow the poor cops who we were told are simply too understaffed and underpaid because of Woke to deal with 'rampant rising crime' have found the strength to beat the shit out of college students across the whole country for peacefully saying "divest from the country killing innocent palestinians in the tens of thousands"

Happy birthday, Ghassan Kanafani! (April 8, 1936)
A famed Palestinian author and revolutionary, Ghassan Kanafani was born in Acre, on the Mediterranean coast. His father was a lawyer opposed to the British occupation of Palestine, and when the Nakba came in 1948, his family was forced into exile. Kanafani’s family settled in Damascus, where he completed his education and became a teacher. At the University of Damascus, he met Palestinian radical George Habash, who became a great political influence on Kanafani, who joined Habash’s Arab Nationalist Movement. In 1967, now a committed Marxist, he joined the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, becoming a key party ideologue and spokesperson. He produced a celebrated body of revolutionary literature and fiction, including Men in the Sun, What’s Left to You, and Return to Haifa. In 1972, Kanafani was assassinated by the Mossad in a car bombing in retaliation for an attack on Lod Airport by the PFLP and Japanese Red Army.
“The Palestinian cause is not a cause for Palestinians alone, but a cause for every revolutionary, wherever he is, as a cause of the exploited and oppressed masses in our era.”

On that note, I want to spotlight the fundraiser for an Afro-Palestinian journalist, and Lama Jamous' uncle. He has less of a following amongst allies because he posts almost entirely in Arabic, so I'm going to spotlight him on my blog and put him on the fundraiser list as well.
And please follow him on IG as well, even if you only speak English he has small captions on the videos he posts that translate his Arabic.

Help us get groceries!
It's the day before I get paid, but we have too many expenses to be able to really make room for a lot of food so we need help!!!
We just need enough to be able to fill in the gaps and get some groceries so we can stop relying on takeout, it's unsustainable to have to keep ordering out so we really need this!!!
We need $120 by today

I saw someone in the tags of one of my posts say "wow i need to get on the coyote train" and I was like THIS IS MY TIME TO SHINE, why? Because I love their work and have books to recommend:
Persistence: All Ways Butch and Femme edited by Ivan Coyote and Zena Sharman - this one has many different authors for each chapter and a couple chapters are by Ivan if I recall correctly. Great starter book to introduce someone to butch/femme identities, especially because there's a variety of perspectives when it comes to those identities. This one addresses kind of, one of my few critics of Ivan which is not addressing racial issues much, if at all, or disability, which in a way, it isn't their place to speak I guess, but this book does have perspectives from poc that are masculine of center and femmes of colour, aside from disabled femmes.
Tomboy Survival Guide by Ivan Coyote - I adore this book. It talks about being butch, understanding oneself as butch, talks about growing up gender nonconforming, it talks about family perception, the struggles of going through life as a gender nonconforming person, about being a blue collar butch and how it can feel sometimes out in the field, how they were treated. Overall, an incredible book though some parts can be a bit rough.
Missed Her by Ivan Coyote - this one is more geared towards relationships (not just romantic, but it touches on that); loss; reflections on life, trans-ness and people's perceptions on that and what is butch; and how being who you are can change the world around you even in small ways and what will be there looking ahead. Very heartwarming read.
Care Of by Ivan Coyote - I haven't completely finished this one as it changes slightly from their usual way to write. This one is more prompt and response, since they use this one in the context of the pandemic, when they're stuck at home to answer emails, letters and messages they've gotten throughout the years and those can be very moving. You get to see the feedback and their interactions with the people that write to them. And as they write things with a more specific direction.
Gender Failure by Ivan Coyote and Rae Spoon - is here as an honourable mention, not because I think it's inferior to the books previously mentioned, simply because I haven't read it myself, so I can't vouch for something i don't know, but the times I've seen people talking about it, it seemed like a good book as well and i know Ivan is quite skilled in discussing gender.
Ivan Coyote has a very subtle and inviting way to discuss all of these topics that I really admire and their story telling is kind, light-hearted without running away from important subjects.
If you've read Ivan Coyote and enjoy their work, especially in Missed Her, I can't recommend enough My Lesbian Husband: Landscape of a Marriage by Barrie Jean Borich, there's a familiarity there to me in the way they write and their story telling, though Barrie Jean Borich writes in a more continuous way than in short pieces like Ivan does.
Regardless, both really great authors, in my opinion.
