Final Work Assignment 2: Keyframes, Height and Misinterpretation
Experiment (Unfinished render): https://youtu.be/i_7W5qUEFjo
Full rendered scene: “https://youtu.be/0ciaI1FU548”
This is my final assignment. The top link is an unfinished rendered scene which will be presented for now... But once i fully render my scene, then i will edit this post and add the link of it.

ADAD1002 assignment 2 word statement
The following work i have made continues the poster i made for assignment 2 where i create a variety of different types of 3D models of whatever object comes in mind in the given time and apply a displacement map on the models to give the models a distorted property. I find the possible results from the destruction of computer errors fascinating and hoped to create a possible vision that was created by the computer's flaws.
A displacement map in the field of 3D modelling is typically used to create fine details in the shape of a model without going through the labour work of manually adjusting the height of ever small vertices. A fantastic and genius way to easily create realistic model texture or saving times creating certain models. It uses a black and white image to determine the height of a model (black means down and white means up). In the possible future where vr/ar may become mainstream in the daily life. Computers may display 3D models to vr/ar incorrectly, either showing the wrong displacement map (from perhaps address to image of image was changed) or the model’s UV map has been incorrectly representing the model (which means the map moves the vertices at the wrong places) or the maximum and minimum height of the vertices have increased causing the shape of the model to be nearly unrecognisable.
On this assignment, i continued this concept by modelling an entire scene. The scene that i decided to model was a scene from a picture i took on the open day of UNSW. Then for the displacement map, i created a black and white video that can connect or resemble the model in some way. This is because a glitch isn't truly random, it's random but still related to the situation.
A few of my displacement maps were inspired by artworks made by Qiu Zhijie’s book ‘Qiu Zhijie: Breaking the Ice’ by using his way of representing a topic and performing a similar act to represent a displacement. The floor model’s displacement idea was inspired by “” because of how the light were shaped inside the dome. This gave me the idea of walking and leaving a trail of shadow behind and recording it. Another displacement inspired from ‘Qiu Zhijie: Breaking the Ice’ was the car model. The “” artwork displayed a giant cut of the cow and although i don't know if it shows the cow’s innards, it gave me the idea of showing the inside of computer to represent the solar powered car. So i took picture of the inside of all of my custom made computer at a location called the motherboard and made this a displacement. I made sure that all computers were computers i made because i would assume that solar powered car in real life was custom built.
‘The Invention and Conclusion of the Eye’ by Toril Johannessen also takes a small inspiration into some of  my created displacement maps. It gave me the idea of using folded pieces of paper with writings on it to represent my displacement map. I created this specific displacement map during ADAD class. It was created using coding notes that I made for my computer course and thought it was relevant to the applied model of the table as the original reference photo had a lot of cool electronic items.
Every other model i have created were applied with original and unique ideas of created displacement maps relevant in some way to the models. I huge problem i faced when doing this major work was rendering times. Although i intentionally made my models look a bit cartoony, i didn’t expect how incredibly slow the render times were. This is worrying as it’ll take hours for my computer to fully convert this scene into a video format to show to class.

The beginning and end result of my scene. At the time i upload this blog, I would be still rendering the scene. This scene is incredibly computer intensive to render and i’m scared i might not be able to show the full video on time during the ADAD due date. However i have completed every single detail in the scene. All thats left is to hope my computer to do the rest. (And hope that it doesn’t crash)

Displacement Map: Train Light
Original: https://youtu.be/vvlO_a8ldGc
Result: ‘https://youtu.be/6bcTvNb2_oI’
This scene is used to represent the building in the background as the glass and ceiling of the train shelters me from the outside, i thought this would be the displacement map to represent the building in the background.

Final: https://youtu.be/8d4zAHUKcU8
This is me playing ‘Moonlight Sonata’ by Beethoven. I chose this song because of how famous it is which a model in my scene (The cage with a sphere inside it) played very famous classical music. (Also Moonlilght Sonata is the only really famous classical song i can play excluding Fur Elise)

Displacement experiment: Using complex fractals as a displacement
https://imgur.com/a/B5FPX
These displacement maps were made during a computer science assignment i made with a partner. These were some of the results from using a mathematical formula reinterpreted into a visual form. (I don’t really understand the mathematical part of this xD)

Audio visualiser result when applied onto the trees. When i applied this displacement map, i realised that because the wood section of the trees were made using a special tool on blender called the wire tool, the wood section of the tree saved itself from the displacement glitch effect.

Audio visualiser isn’t rendering probably for some reason. A bit ironic how i’m trying to create a vision of glitch while i get a glitch that results in making me see nothing
Edit: problem fixed

This audio clip was taken from my video where i walked through the city, I’m thinking of creating a black and white audio visualiser as my displacement map for either my grass or tree model. Possibly tree since there will probably be little difference to my grass models as they have very little geometry to manipulate.
