the ableist mod is no longer there it seems. still havent heard of an official apology to the people harmed but thats a step forward.

that credit list doesn't go by their discord IDs, it goes by their names in the credits of the game. there's many people in there who haven't spoken in the server or made an active contribution for months. it's very much for crediting people for their work

Yeah good point about the discord ids, but why do they have their roles attached to them as emojis? it seems a bit unusual especially since its in the faq channel, which i assume they put this there bc people were asking "who does what". i cant be fully certain ofc

but that date thing also makes things very confusing which is just enfuriating to me. The mod team is composed almost entirely of adults and yet theyre not behaving like it, their doc was a disaster and instead of properly apologising theyre just... taking really strange actions and making everyone feel lost

they did say it was gonna be their last response which is a shame. it feels like im wasting my time on this bc clearly those people are too childish to even bother learning from their mistakes

also i'm pretty sure it's illegal for them to accept money for the game because it's fanmade. It's in the FAQ

thats not a credited people list that is an active contributor list meaning the mod is still active in the team as a head artist

there is nothing indicating this is just a credits list but the "show them some love in the channels if you see them around" implies that this is, rather, a contributor member list like i said

sure they can put them in the credits but thats not whats going on here. they are keeping them actively working in the game

Okay its been almost a week and the mod is still listed in the development team for the game and the Clangen staff has not said anything else (as expected, since they claimed it would be their last response, despite how bad of a response it was)

Idk why they're not removing the person, there's several artists. Ik theyre a head artist but like. You can just promote someone else to the role and kick em off lmao

They did remove the entire possibility for people to post commission ads in the server, though. They claim it's because the server is too big which I guess makes sense since the guilty mod was one of the only ones actively moderating that chat, but it's also conveniently right after people began shitting on them on twitter soooo

I don't know what'll happen to this blog.

Part of me wants to remain playing the game, as it is a free game and the devs aren't profitting from it (as far as I know. please lmk if they are via some patreon or smth)

but another part of me doesn't want to play a game in which the devs allow a very blatantly ableist person to remain in the art team. And don't even come at me saying they were disabled, I know, and it doesnt matter, you can still be ableist as a disabled person

However regardless of whether I'll keep playing clangen or not this blog is not dying. I've been planning a sims 3 warriors legacy challenge thingy for a little bit, it might take longer for me to start it but it will be a thing. And who knows, maybe I'll branch out and play other animal sim games and register my stories from those! I'm particularly fond of Wolfquest but I've been looking on some web games like lioden and the upcoming paw borough.

and like.... sure..... maybe they werent very good in how they behaved w the mods but the fact they brought it up at the same time as THEY were being called out for ableist behavior felt very iffy like they deliberately chose to shift the blame onto the other ppl.

like, focus on the actual problem at hand, your mod was ableist. remove them from the dev team as well. thats literally all ppl asked for they didnt have to make a whole ahh doc

I won't speak much on this as I am not a disabled person but the clangen staff really fucked up.

Summary of the situation:

A clangen discord mod deleted someone's emergency commissions ad because the artist mentioned they were disabled in the post, the mod explained that they thought it would "make people feel bad" and manipulate them into commissioning them. several other emergency commission ads have been posted, but this person's ad was specifically cherry-picked by the staff simply because it was from a disabled individual.

Artist made a post on twitter calling them out. People showed support.

Clangen discord staff team proceded to make a super long announcement that exposed the artist's username (which is dangerous, because it could encourage harassment), involved someone else completely unrelated to the incident, and proceded to leak private tickets between these two people and the mods.

They did remove the mod in question from the server but there is no evidence they were removed from the development team (the mod is an artist for the game), and there is also no evidence they apologised to the artist even though the devs say they did/will do.

This is very summarized and i cut out some unnecessary details but this is extremely incompetent behavior on the staff's behalf and extremely unprofessional. The artist very likely will receive troll attacks from the more aggressive fans of the game which will definitely include ableist attacks, all because the mods decided to be petty and leak things and bring in unnecessary drama to a situation where they were clearly in the wrong.

Because of this, I will not play the game until there is evidence that the mod was removed from the development team as well, not just the server.

Stop being dickheads with fragile egos.
