hi guys. i thought after the break my muse would be back in full swing but ??? idk. i’m feeling really good for the first time in a long time bc i’m not stressed about doing drafts here and i’m doing roleplay for the love of it again with writing foggy at @avocadefense . i think i’m gonna stick with him for a bit. i’ll be around in ims (i have sideblogs attached here) and on discord, but i think i need to take a step back from charles for a while. i love you all so much, and i hope to see so many of you again when i’m back <3

hi friends. i know i said i’d have my queue running while i was away, but i’ve decided not to. to be honest, this trip is gonna be a much-needed pause and reset from this blog. i need time to not be charles for a bit, bc its starting to wear on my psyche. that being said, once the trip is over, i’ll be back in full swing! i just need to rest and reset. if you need me, i’ll be around on d.iscord.

AFTER A COUPLE OF KNOCKS and a greeting which chimes through the oak door of charles’ office, jack enters through with not only a soft smile upon him, but with hands that hold a neatly wrapped box in blue and a card inside a brown envelope ; the box isn’t huge, enough to take up jack’s hand at the least but with a weight that holds it down from moving. a silver, handcrafted pocket watch hides within the box with a delicate floral pattern on the casing which supports a light blue on the petals ; the item itself looks to be from the victorian era with the craftsmanship of the same time yet doesn’t look over a day old. had he gone back just to retrieve such an item ? yes. 

❛ happy birthday !  ❜ rings jack’s voice as he gently strolls over to where charles was, smile never leaving his face. he passes the small box and card over ( which had also been signed graciously by molly ) and he leans slightly to his side.  ❛  couldn’t get ya much, but i know you’d skin me if i spent a lot. ❜

truthfully, charles almost forgets it’s his birthday. it’s hardly as though he keeps track, but the students - well, they don’t let him forget it. as soon as classes begin for the day, students march themselves up to his desk and present him with homemade cards and small gifts from the older ones. it warms his heart. jack appears in the doorway and charles smiles brightly. 

“thank you, jack. you didn’t have to get me anything at all.” he picks up the card and reads it carefully, smiling even wider. “give molly my love, please. this is lovely.” charles opens the box and is immediately taken aback by how stunning the watch is. “jack - it’s beautiful, thank you.” he carefully lifts it from the box and looks it over from all angles. it’s like nothing he’s ever seen before. blue eyes raise to meet jack’s, face full of gratitude. “where did you find something like this?”
