All about me

Up until now, I have mainly used tumblr as a generic social media site-reposts from other tumblrs, etc. However, I’ve decided to change things up and use it as a blog, as a form of self-expression and self-care.

A little about me:

I’m Native American (Coharie and Lumbee nations) from North Carolina. I don’t look stereotypically Native American and am often mistaken for other ethnic groups.

I speak, read, and write Japanese and work as a Japanese translator/interpreter. I am currently also studying Spanish and French.

I love reading, history, and music. I play banjo, guitar, and ukulele.

I consider myself a proud geek and love tabletop role playing games (like D&D), comics, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and anime.

I struggle with clinical depression and anxiety, for which i receive professional treatment.

I am overweight and have been training in MMA in order to get in better shape.

For a personal motto: how would you say "always breaking; never broken" in latin?

The trick to this one is that the commonly known Latin word for “to break,” frangere—the source of words like fragile, frangible, fraction, and so on—is transitive; that is, it can only mean “to break [something]” and never “to become broken.” That’s what Google Translate can’t understand and that’s why it would lead to you getting a shitty tattoo, which is what I assume everyone does with these translations.

Anyway, the word for “to become broken” is the much less common fragescere, the inchoative form of frangere, for those who know what that stuff means.

What you’re looking for is “semper fragescens, numquam fractus.” Change “fractus” to “fracta” if you need feminine rather than masculine. The rest would remain the same.
