ALSO IF YOU DIDNT SEE THIS ON TWITTER MELISSA NAVIA WHO PLAYS ERICA ORTEGAS ON SNW ABSOLUTELY OBLITERATED THIS ONE PERSON ON TWITTER WHO SAID SHE DISLIKED ORTEGAS BECAUSE SHE APPARENTLY LOOKS LIKE A ~lesbian~ BUT CANT EVEN SAY THE WORD LMAOOOOO
I am absolutely obsessed with strange new worlds. I like how it’s not taking itself like deadly serious all the time, there’s so many moments that are just the characters interacting and it can be goofy. It’s like damn this is what I would’ve written fanfic for but the writers already did it 😭😭
When I read “space...the final frontier” there’s a small part of my brain that is that audio of Patrick Stewart saying it but with a ridiculous french accent that makes it “eh-spay-zeh...ze final frahn-tee-aire” while Jonathan Frakes absolutely loses it in the background.
I just picked up on something we already knew, but again just reached out and smacked me in the brain to PAY MORE ATTENTION! Dialogue from Star Trek The Motion Picture:
FEMALE KOLINAHR MASTER: (in Vulcan)
"Your thoughts, give them to me...I sense the consciousness calling to you from space. ...Your human blood is touched by it, Spock."
What? Not his VULCAN half-blood sensing across *26.25 light-years - but rather his HUMAN BLOOD? Why would it be Spock's Human blood reacting and picking up something his Vulcan mind couldn't?
Now when most of us first saw the movie, having not had the benefit of Roddenberry's own movie novel for comparison yet, we just thought she was talking about V'GER, and she was actually, as usual for the elitist Vulcans, criticizing Spock's weakness/lack of control (or as it is called in ST 2009 - 'Your Disadvantage') over his inferior Human mother's blood.
But NOW, having read the novel, Roddenberry says James T Kirk was calling out to Spock across over *16.26 light-years distance, needing Spock again for his brilliant advice and his 'emotional security' in the face of V'GER's existential threat to all living beings everywhere in its path.
And Spock heard Kirk's voice calling out to him. HEARD.
Spock, even after telling Kirk, speaking into the distance of space - "Jim! Good-bye my . . . my t’hy’la. This is the last time I will permit myself to think of you or even your name again" Spock nonetheless, right before being awarded the symbol of Kolinahr attainment, stopped the Master.
"That had felt like Jim Kirk's thoughts... 'The Klingons weren’t destroyed. It feels like . . . it’s headed for Earth. Spock, I wish you were here to help me understand'. "
It was Spock's Human blood that heard Kirk's voice needing Spock - NOT Spock's Vulcan telepathy. It was Spock's Human blood that set forth the events saving the universe from V'GER's genocidal cleansing.

(The following details are added just because I live for this stuff, and 16.26 light-years is a heck of a long distance, proving the bond between Jim and Spock, the bond Spock tried so hard to deny, but finally capitulated to the truth of their t'hy'la relationship. As explained by the creator himself, Roddenberry.) Here is why I say 16.26 light-years:
* Daniel Bamberger, Astronomer at Northolt Branch Observatories says:
"The planet Vulcan has been established to orbit the real star 40 Eridani A... located 16.26 light-years from Earth. 40 Eridani is a triple star system: The primary star, 40 Eridani A...actually has one known exoplanet, 40 Eridani Ab, a hot super-Earth that was discovered in 2018. In 2007, NASA had made a press release about one of their ideas for a planet-searching mission, in which they mentioned 40 Eridani’s relation to the Star Trek universe.

im such a man who leans in doorways. relaxes against the counter. drapes across a couch. sprawls over an armchair. my spine isnt straight and by god neither am i.
After retirement, they start going in schools to talk to kids about Starfleet and their adventures on the Enterprise.
Of course Spock gets the shy kid <3
@spaceandstarlight did me a favor and I promised to draw Tos!Spirk in return. This is for you!
People in Star Trek are always recreating historical figures in the holodeck but all they do is boring shit like playing cards with them. Why would you do that when you could literally be making Surak and Socrates have a rap battle against Kahless and Barack Obama?
