There are so many things about black mesa in half life 1 that were so incredibly fucked up if you take it out of the context of a 3D platformer. I don't play video games, but I think the Half Life series is hilarious. Make two parts of a trilogy, end part 2 on a cliffhanger with a major character death, cancel part 3, 15 years later release a prequel (on a system nobody owns) that uses time travel magic to undo the ending of part 2, end the prequel with a flash forward cliffhanger of the now not dead character saying "oh just you wait, we're gonna have one hell of an adventure in part 3," and STILL make no plans to ever release part 3!
