All those have sorted Lego Technics pieces. But I’m not using them, so I may give them to my brother…

For almost a decade I have had every instagram post show upon tumblr, but IFTTT has changed their prices and now it’s not worth it to have this archive. If their pricing was $2 a month fine, but it’s lots more.

Much of my work is based off things I see in the real world, such as these houses that are being converted to businesses. They have been businesses for several decades but these renovations seem to go deeper, changing the floor-lab for better uses… possibly stores with those sturdy stairs and more open spaces…

I’m still working on these models. With all of the development work over the past two years, and now thus -risky phd, I have put them aside. In the back of my June I am still tweaking some things, though…

For one thing the walls of the next versions won’t be quite as destroyed.

I needed new shirts and stumbled in an @adidas outlet store… nine new shirts later, three new pairs of shoes and some workout/running clothes.

I trust this logo far more than the one with only four letters, that’s for sure.

One of my first real uses of social media was for Tumblr. Then I was sucked into Facebook, Instagram and Xitter (pronounced 'sh-itter') and, most recently I have limited my exposure to both of those because of the way they are now managed. I used to have every instagram post shared through If This Then That (IFTTT) but their new payment structure isn't worth what used to be the convenience (It is quite high for streamlining something the apps used to do themselves) In short. Even with all the controversies surrounding the ownership/mismanagement by Yahoo and others, Tumblr is the only one of all of these which still has it's core values intact, and seems dedicated to users over profits.

Some very interesting doll houses at the thrift store today… very unique prints and scale. The removable stairs were interesting…

I went to see The Creator and I have to say it is one of the best and freshest sci fi movies I have seen in a long long while…

A short visual explanation of how spaces inform my creative research. From empty stores, abandoned buildings, renovations and dollhouses, all the things I see and find inform the research creation of small buildings for stages of expression. You can see the lighting and material can really change what these spaces feel like.

I have returned to university of Calgary as a PhD student, in Anthropology. This coincides with my art practice except, where I focussed on my own experiences of being within an abandoned space, now I will be collecting stories from other people who used to work in a place that is now an industrial heritage site.

Random things … old cigar boxes from the 90’s, bought from a shop in Penny Lane, which has since been demolished and turned into a 40 story tower. A suitcase with the same styling as the typical sears blue trunk. It’s locked so I don’t know what is inside.

Without IFTTT (if this then that) seamlessly reposting my instagram photos to tumblr I am finding it difficult to maintain my archive of images. I need to do it manually again.

These are from a family photo album. I am the wee creature eating rice crispies and posing seductively in front of the Christmas tree. This would have been in 1965.

Spending a bit of time scanning old photo albums. A lot of slightly blurry photos but, you know what? That isn’t an issue when it comes to family memories from ~1965 or so…
