you can be both employed & way too online. it’s called “posting on the clock,” and actually, it’s praxis.

"these researchers published a paper on something that literally any of us could have told you 🙄" ok well my supervisors wont let me write something in my thesis unless I can back it up with a citation so maybe it's a good thing that they're amplifying your voice to the scientific community in a way that prevents people from writing off your experiences as annecdotal evidence

big report i worked on is finally out but it's on the city website which is truly impossible to navigate. idk what comms is doing to promote it. there's like a weird political thing of how the majority of the work was done by a group within the commission and they want it to be separate from the commission's website/comms even though they are part of us and other departments worked on it? i don't totally understand. but my boss sent us a link and was like "here it is!" so it's cool to look at

detaining the CA seiu president is a real tell that these motherfuckers do not understand what they are dealing with. the US does not have a particularly militant labor movement overall. but SEIU? in Ca Li Fornia? you'll get turnout if a sympathetic politician is detained. but it is nothing compared to the kind of mobilization that you can get from thousands of people who see the organization that enables them to have pensions and healthcare (to say nothing of real enforceable standards at work) under attack. it is not a can of worms you open knowingly.

The illness often brings flu-like symptoms and can escalate to severe bleeding, organ failure, and even death without proper medical care. The findings can inform land use decisions and tree preservation strategies in rural areas, according to the researchers.

go to your union meetings so you can talk to other members and leadership & have a voice in negotiations. also they might have a nice dinner catered from a local italian place WITH tiramisu for dessert.
