The Surreal Photography of Sarolta Ban

I was born in 1982 in Budapest, Hungary. Originally I’m a jewellery designer, later I discovered digital photo manipulation and it became my passion and main activity. I like using ordinary elements and by combining them, I can give them various stories, personalities. I hope that the meanings of my pictures are never too limited, are open in some way, each viewer can transform them into a personal aspect.

How come reading tea leaves is seen as this sophisticated, witchy thing but if I slam dunk an open can of Chef Boyardee ravioli onto the pavement in the gas station parking lot to see what kind of soda the old ones think I should buy, foodstuff divination suddenly isn’t cool anymore?

Surrealistic Paintings by Leigh Whurr

Leigh Whurr a.k.a. Oddly-Spliced is a digital artist from Birmingham, UK.

Describing or explaining my work is rarely simple since the very appeal of this type of imagery lies in how it may touch a place that words or logic cannot immediately reach.

There is logic to be found, but it is spliced with my own subjective reality. It is an instinctual drive and so any statement about my work usually requires some degree of philosophical leverage, as well as a certain amount of self-analysis. Painting digitally seems like a natural extension of a contemporary approach, although I do not feel this should impinge on the content of the work itself in terms of how it should be received.  It is, to me, simply a more efficient and enjoyable way of producing art.

This southern sea otter is pawsitively excited to sea you! 

These otterly adorable creatures can be found in Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, where they serve as an important keystone species in kelp forests. Sea otters eat invertebrates like sea urchins, which like to chow down on kelp. By eating urchins, sea otters help keep those populations down so the forest can grow and thrive. 

When you’re visiting the coast, give these significant otters plenty of space – a zoom lens can be key!
