My fiance allows me to play what games he has on Steam. I was getting a little bored with Genshin Impact so I thought I would give something new a try. And so I started playing Nier Replicant.
Now, I have been enjoying it so far, but here's what I think is interesting based on what I have learned so far. Replicant is a remake in a way. The original Nier released in the US was Nier Gestalt and there is one glaring change between these two versions.
The main, playable protagonist.
And so, the writing changes a little as well for these characters to make sense. Gestalt's premise is that you are a father saving your daughter whereas in the Replicant version you are an older brother saving your sister.
I just find this so fascinating. Apparently the localization team believed western media would better relate to a single father doing all in his power to save his daughter. Meanwhile, eastern media better relates to the younger protagonist.
Like, I see both sides. I can understand and support the bond of a parent wanting to save their only child. Especially if that child is perhaps the only remaining member of family that they have. I empathize with that relationship because it reads as a selfless man who is determined to beat all odds for his family.
Although, in a video game where side quests are inevitable, I see the younger protagonist in the form of an older brother more reasonable. I mean, there's a whole fishing side quest that has like nine parts. You are fishing a whole lot to complete this thing and it doesn't seem to align with the image of the father I described above. The urgency gets lost with a parent, but a brother? I can see a brother running off to fish for some older man he just met while he's in town on a lead to help his sister. The sense of being a little naive and wanting to help as many as he can fits the younger age better.
I'm setting up a room to get the cats used to a new place and
This litter box is crazy.
It lights up. What is this nonsense??
So, I grew up with cats. I remember scooping the litter box is a dirty responsibility that comes with having cats. That's what led me to think I should maybe give one of those self-scooping boxes a try. I ordered one and now it looks like it's lost with FedEx.
I will get cats in four days and their toilet is lost in the mail.
The litter bot has arrived! We are now prepped with all supplies needed for the cats!

It's official! Pancake and Donut are to be adopted! They visit the vet on Tuesday and then, if they have no negative reactions to their shots, they can come home on Thursday. I'm way too excited!!
Today is the day. My fiance and I shall meet the cats we might adopt, Pancake and Donut! I've been so excited to meet these boys. Hopefully they like us as much as we like them.

I'm working on adopting cats and it's all I talk about.
The cats are these two boys named Pancake and Donut. My fiance is on board and we are working together to purchase everything that their little feline hearts could desire, but I'm so anxious.
Like, what if the foster tells me no and that I can't adopt the boys??? What will I do????
