Y'know. There are a lot of people who say "problematic" when they actually mean "sinful". And I kind of wish they would just say "sinful".

It'd be more honest about their perspective, and it'd save me time trying to determine whether they're critiquing something in good faith or just being reactionary conservatives.

i dont know why anyone else misses analog board games, but to me, it's because physical parts let me cheat. there's no moving pieces around when someone isnt looking in a chess app, no sneaking bonus pieces out of the graveyard in checkers, no double drawing cards in go fish.

i spent years developing those skills as a Professional Little Brother. what am i supposed to do now, go back to college? learn how to play games the right way? i mean, who gives a shit? the fun part was never the game, it was the Getting Away With It. or, you know, for the rest of my family, Catching The Bastard. now that was entertainment.

Honestly part of the problem with this obsession with only consuming unproblematic fiction is that people are less likely to acknowledge when something is harmful. If you so much as say hey this one joke in this one episode was offensive fans will write you an essay on why it wasn’t. Because they’ve created a world view where this is basically accusing them of being a bad person who has committed an unforgivable sin.

Isnt it a neat trick how everytime someone says they think booktok romances are lame booktokers go " Oh em gee no one takes female literature seriously you're such a misogynist" and then everytime someone does take it seriously and applies any critical thought to those books they go "omg Its literally not that deep its just smut btw Im just a girl!!! #coquettism". Really cool how that happens

academia in the age of anti-intellectualism is fucking wild because everytime a teacher gives a writing assignment at least three morons ask them to let us do presentations or a quiz instead. when that strategy doesn't work they start negotiating for lower word count. the teacher starts with "i want a 6K word essay on this for your finals" and ends up with "please for the love of god just write 2K and fine you can work as pairs and this will only affect 10% of your grade" like HUH??? this one time i raised my hand accepting to look like the teacher's pet just to save this assignment and said it is quite literally impossible to write a comprehensible academic essay with an abstarct, introduction, lit review, methodology, discussion and conclusion in UNDER TWO THOUNSAND WORDS and if we do this it's just gonna be endless editing to make it shorter and shorter and the final product won't make any fucking sense and then the class actually jumped me for saying that. i'm sorry but where did you get the idea that you can go through collage without having to write a simple essay every once in a while? and can you stop acting like it's gonna be so much work when i know you're gonna make chatgpt write it anyway?? this is getting ridicilous
