I know that a lot of people probably already know about Lukas, but I wanted to share my idea for a new card for him, based on the new style of Planeswalkers from War of the Spark.

Lukas Rushes In
Inspired by @nautilus-personal‘s The Hive Joins the War. Please check out their short story!
He had only heard rumors but, he would imagine that it would never come to pass. A cataclysm the likes of which Lukas hoped never to bear witness to again.
Time seemed to move in slow motion as hordes upon hordes of otherworldly hell-spawn poured into the streets. Confusion and terror rang throughout every alley and corridor of the city. The very seat of power, the Hall of the Guildpact, reduced to rubble before the invasion even began.
And all the while it seemed all too familiar to Lukas. Seeing the very foundations of order collapse under the weight of an unknown enemy. Seeing creatures of another world ripping and tearing through people, no matter whether they were innocent, guilty, strong, or weak. Seeing yet another home go up in flames.
But this time will be different.
He rushed forward, his spear brandished. The blades of the Eternals passing harmlessly through his spectral form. He didn't strike any of them, but instead made a beeline into the city.
I can save them, was his only thought, I can protect them all.
He’d already seen one home be destroyed before his very eyes, and he won’t let it happen again.
Not now. Not ever.

The ghost gave Shaw a smile as they shook hands.
“I certainly will. Again, thank you for meeting with me!” said Lukas.
With this new information and a plot of action charted in his head, Lukas turned and made his way to the door, waving to the lawyer as he left.
It was an an average day for Shaw Andulah, when his thrull delivered his mail to him, with a letter bearing an Azorius wax seal on it. The letter said: "Dear Mr. Andulah, I write this letter because I wished to come by your offices and as you some questions regarding an investigation I'm working on. Please write me back as soon as you can. Looking forward to hearing from you, Lukas Wermort."
Shaw regards the letter in his hand. It’s not every day that the Azorius come to him about something. He writes a quick reply and seals it before passing it off to his thrull. A simple agreement and invitation, with a set meetimg time. The location is just his office, of course. He watches his thrull skitter off to deliver the letter.

Lukas nodded as he rose from his chair, putting away his notebook and turned to face the Orzhov lawyer.
“I shall. Thank you so much for meeting with me. “I’d like to apologize if my tone sounded rather accusatory,” the ghost said, as he extended a hand toward Shaw.

Lukas reached out to grasp one of the tea cups on the table, but stopped abruptly. Taking a moment to look at his hand, the specter considered taking the cup, but was afraid of the porcelain cup slipping though his grasp and cracking on the office floor. Balling his hand into a fist, Lukas focused his strength into maintaining a temporary physical form, just for a moment. Reaching out again, he held the fragile-looking cup in a gentle, yet firm grip and took a sip of tea.
“Hrmn... I suppose that is a bit of a pickle. I suppose I should investigate the area around his residence. See if I could find any leads or any Gateless members operating in the area. Chances are they may have been responsible for his disappearance...” he said before setting the cup back on the table.

Lukas paused in his note taking.
“A Gateless sect smuggling artifacts into the Tenth? I may need to find them and bring them in for questioning, especially since they’re already engaged in illegal activities. Perchance, do you know where I can find-”
Stopping himself in the middle of the questioning, something sprung up in the ghost’s mind: a question that all of a sudden needed an immediate answer.
“Wait, how did Mr. Mendas know they were smuggling artifacts? Also, who was it that charged him with smuggling said artifacts?”

The geist shifted in his seat as he pulled out a notepad and a pen.
“Oh, yes, thank you for meeting with me at such short notice. I wanted to ask a couple questions about a, uh, Mr. Kib Mendas? He’s gone missing two days ago and, according to the Senate’s records, you defended him in court two weeks prior. I wanted to ask if you might have know about his whereabouts or if there were any potential suspects I should question.”

It wasn’t before long that Lukas arrived at the legal offices at Orzhova. After some being directed by Syndicate guards and consulting the reply letter he had received, the ghost found himself at the door of Shaw’s office. Attempting to knock on the door, his fist simply phased through the ornate wooden door, before trying again, this time with success.

Former... organics...? Lukas thought, before shaking the question from his mind.
“Boredom? Aye, I suppose that it is something that people do have to deal with on a regular basis” he said.
“Wait, what did you mean ‘before you became like this’? Did something happen to you?”
Outside his office where would be a scratching sound on the walls. Something large thought it would be a good idea to go climbing building today. Something large also lost it's grip and ended up putting its foot through his window in an attempt to catch itself. (@the-phyrexian-mechanist, who cant go five minutes without breaking something.)
Startled by the window shattering, Lukas jumped up from his desk and grabbed for his spear. He turned towards the broken window, where a mechanical clawed leg was standing on the windowsill.
“Who goes there?!” the ghost shouted in a somewhat shaky voice.

“Hmmn. Back home, we mostly write important documents on rag paper, made from hemp or cotton. I don’t know how the Azorius gets all the paper it needs for all these damned forms.”
Lukas briefly thumbed through the pages of the stacks of documents on his desk, before turning back to the Phyrexian anchored to his office window.
“Do you... get bored very easily? Enough to just start climbing buildings for fun?” he asked.

Lukas looked worriedly at the window frame before returning to his deck.
“Yes, doing all this paperwork is rather unpleasant,” he grumbled. “That’s something I don’t understand about this world. Why does everything seem to require forms to be filled out? Wasn’t like this back home...”

“Um, I work here,” the ghost said as he leaned the spear back against the doorframe.  “I was doing some paperwork when you, uh, broke my window. Are you alright? You’re not going to fall?”

Lukas wearily breathed a sigh of relief.
“Oh… it’s you, Thaclel,” he said as he lowered his spear. “It’s been a while. What are you doing? Why were you climbing the building?”
