I have his hc that during eclipses, and like the week leading up Tokoyami starts acting really feral. So like Dark Shadow’s power is really strengthened during eclipses because its(in Tokoyami’s words) “The time in which shadow overtakes the worlds greatest light”. Basically Dark Shadow’s power starts physically effecting Tokoyami.
Toko just straight up stops talking 3 days into the week, and then by day 5 hes barricaded himself in his room. They figured out that he wouldn’t be leaving his room anytime soon after a frantically placed call to his parents.
Aizawa safely(armed with a flashlight) tasked Midoriya(Tokoyami’s unfortunate and non-threatening neighbor) to bring food and such to Tokoyami. He was given a spare key and well wishes to not die. He opened the door and saw Tokoyami, or what he assumed to be Tokoyami sitting in a pile of blankets and such(presumably a nest). The problem is, he couldn’t tell if the growling creature with glowing red eyes covered in a mountain of hoodies was his friend, so he just left the food right next to the inside of the door and locked it.
Day 6 passes without incident, and Midoriya actually gains the courage to try and sit with Tokoyami for a bit. They have a semi conversation with Midoriya asking questions and Tokoyami responding in a series of chirps, whistles, or growls. During this time Midoriya was able to examine the physical differences in Tokoyami, like the fact that he had literal fangs and talons now.
Day 7, which is the actual day of the Eclipse is hella weird. Tokoyami was just asleep all day and couldn’t be woken up. According to his parents that was normal and nothing could really be done about it. Midoriya was tasked with checking if he was alive every so often, and he was so nobody really worried about it. They figured that nothing would happen during the actual eclipse because Tokoyami hasn’t even moved in the last like 17 hours.
So everyone was gathered in the front lawn to watch it happen(Aizawa didn’t wanna be too far away from the dorm and plus it was a total eclipse so why not let the kids have some time outside). Iida of course made sure everyone was wearing proper safety attire(glasses provided from Ms.Momo herself) and everything was going great, then the actual eclipse happened. It sounded like every circle of hell had been unleashed to just scream at the sun, like every tortured soul was singing in a choir of horror. There was what looked like black fog seeping out of every crevice of the dorm building. The hellish scene continued until the moon finally made is past the sun.
Everyone was shaking, crying, or a mix of the two. Then the front door opened. Tokoyami walked outside completely calm, looked at the sky, and went
“Ah damn, I missed it again this year”
And walked back inside.
Apparently his parents thought it would be funny not to tell anybody about that last part.
Ashes please don’t bring your flamethrower to a watergun fight
My piece for the @mechanismszine !!!!
This is absolutely one of my favourite things I’ve drawn in a long time and I’m so happy it was for such an amazing zine!
the mechanisms all being steampunk but not having steampunk backstories are so fucking funny. explain to me how a disgraced scientist who can sometimes make prophecies, a war vet who fought on the moon, and a cowboy with daddy issues all have similar fashion sense
Shitty Jonny D’Ville aesthetic: wow. what a gorgeous specimen. truly a fantastic bloke who’s never done anything wrong and certainly never committed any crimes. i bet he just walks down the street and people think to themselves. wow, who is that guy? i bet he’s a captain. no i’m not biased this is all being written from a place of objective fact. what do you mean this “reads like jonny d’ville wrote it”?
