My biggest university advice is getting a hobby where you can see your progress. I know for me one of the worst things about university is that i keep handing in eassays that get absolutely no feedback and it feels like I'm not actually progressing in my field, because the change is so gradual and takes such a long time.
Things like knitting and playing the piano have been absolute lifesavers, because I can actually see the change. With knitting it's extremely obvious because you are constantly making the garment bigger. With piano, when i'm learning a new song and playing it every day, things that took me an hour the previous day are super easy the next, which is one of the most satisfying things to notice

Argumentative Essay: On Productivity
With innovations sprouting here and there, it cannot be denied that we live in a culture of convenience. Although tools in present technology often aim in increase productivity, factors such as preoccupation, determination, and consistency remain to influence the progress of one’s work.
The first factor that influences productivity would be preoccupation. Although to-do-list applications such as Smartsheet, BlaBla, and Zoho are designed to help one stay on track, one could not help but feel overwhelmed with the tasks that are queued before him. The course of events that happens before and what would happen after working time greatly affect performance. One may be trying to start accomplishing tasks physically while thinking about yesterday’s affair or tonight’s rehearsal dinner.
The quality of work and productivity also is dependent to one’s determination. Determination varies on how interested a person is in what he is doing. The humanistic approach in personality can even prove this. This psychological theory supports the relationship of subjectivity to determination. Meaning, people really tend to gear themselves more effectively towards self actualization when they engage themselves in fields that they really want or are more interested in.The last factor would be consistency. The Filipino culture is stained with Ningas Kugon, a negative attribute that pertains to our culture’s to go far after kick starting and then get lousy towards the course of the endeavour. To prove this, I believe that it is indeed undeniable that whenever we get through that “trying to start” phase we often find ourselves doing actions that are set in a manner that reflects our great anxiousness to finish.
In conclusion, I believe that as we are presented realities like these, we could only hope that we would maximize productivity applications as motivation rather than as productivity enemies. No matter how hard the task is, we must keep going on. I hope that we could all grant Coldplay’s wish of being a “comma rather than a full stop” in difficult situations. After all, the hardest endeavours often turn out to be the most fulfilling ones.

A College Degree Is Not Always A Guarantee for Success
“Study hard and be competitive so you can earn tons of money after you graduate from college,” that is the line that some parents never forget to dictate to their children. A college education can broaden a person’s knowledge and skills for their desired career, which could either be technical or social. People say that success could come after attaining a college degree because of the better opportunity that awaits them. However, it may only apply to some people as those opportunities do not apply to every graduate. But even without holding a degree, there are successful individuals in different fields such as business, arts, and technology who are either college dropouts, never attended college at all, or became successful in a career that is not related to their college courses. There are even some instances where the non-graduates are more successful than bachelor’s degree holders. If that is the case, then having a college degree is not always the key to an individual’s success.
College graduates have a hard time looking for jobs, or they end up unemployed. One of the reasons for the unemployment or going through a different path than what was planned by students here in the Philippines is that graduates lack skills in critical-thinking, problem-solving, and communication, which is the most important thing that employers look for besides their technical skills. But if those skills are one of the main requirements when applying for a job and it is one of the common problems in job-seeking for the past years, then why are schools not doing anything about it? Collegiate Learning Assessment student’s scores found out that the level of critical-thinking skills that college students gain in schools is low for the students in the United States. About 60% of employers think that fresh graduates job seekers lack that skill, based on the report of PayScale and Future Workplace. In the Philippines, 20.9% of college graduates are unemployed in 2019, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority. And the unemployment rate for the past ten years stays at 18 to 20% each year for graduates. But even for the employed graduates, the jobs that they have are not even related to the course they took. For instance, based on the Graduate Tracer Survey, 47.2% of BS Nursing graduates are not working as nurses nor on any jobs related to that field, and only 26.5% of BS Accountancy graduates land upon the career of being an accountant. That data alone stands as a basis to show that no one knows what could happen to them after graduation; it is either they succeed in their chosen field or not.
Nevertheless, it is not always the job of the school to teach their students some skills that can be learned by the students themselves. As a student in Senior High School who graduated with honors and a leader on various subjects such as Practical Research 1&2 and Komunikasyon at Pananaliksik sa Wika at Kulturang Filipino, I noticed that many students do not have the sense of responsibility to think. Those students are too lazy to think about an academic-related thing, or they let the leaders do all the thinking. It was hard to guide and help them no matter how much you please them because they chose to ignore that responsibility themselves. Senior High is technically in the first and second-year college level already. If those students at the Senior High level cannot even help themselves to think, then they might apply it throughout their college life and might affect their future negatively.
On the other hand, some artists became successful despite having no college degree. As stated by Chad Steward on a blog, a former animator of Disney and the founder of The Animation Course, “going to college is not a golden ticket to an animation job, just be a good animator.” He discussed that animation studios, even the most well-known ones, do not care about where a person attended or what degree he/she holds because all that matters is being skillful. For Steward, investing in high-quality training can help an artist to enhance their skills and that training is found in colleges. However, as a former Multimedia Arts student, college is not a place to go to if you want to become better in arts. It is not surprising for the MMA students to reconsider dropping out of college, as the school limits the imagination of its students because of the instructor standards that are too high, or their expectations mismatch the student’s expression of creativity. They are not doing anything to cultivate the student’s skills. The professors give an example, and students have to create an artwork about it, which is the only routine that always happens in college. It made the students realize that there is nothing else that can help them except for them. Some students dropped their courses for those reasons. Instead, they are training themselves with the help of YouTube videos and other online courses that they can get for free. Also, what Steward said can be applied in different fields of arts such as music and film. Lady Gaga, who dropped out of Tisch School of the Arts after a year of admission, is now one of the most successful musicians in the world. And Quentin Tarantino, one of the most successful filmmakers, never attended college.
Even so, being an artist is a profession or career that does not require intense technical training that you can only receive in college. Of course, there are various professions where a degree is necessary: Engineering, Accountancy, Teachers, Medical, Law, and many more. In the medical field, years and years of studying is a requirement to become a doctor or a nurse. In law, you have to take seven years of studying to become a lawyer or even a public servant. The difference is those professions have a crucial role in modern society, and passing board examinations are needed so they can have a license and officially work, unlike in arts. Art is a form of expression of individuals or even in a community. Other than that, it could also be a form of movement. Everyone can be an artist, even you. You can be an artist as long as you have the determination and passion, and essence for why you are doing it. Some artists became successful because they are not afraid to show the world who they are, and some artists became successful because of succeeding in a goal that could be personal or for the sake of everyone. Naturally, those artists spent the time to train for their abilities to flourish.
Lastly, some people who do not have a college degree are the people who were the most successful businessmen in the world. Bill Gates, who is one of the founders of Microsoft at the age of 23, Steve Jobs, who started Apple at 21, and Mark Zuckerberg, who created Facebook at 19, are some of the businessmen who became successful despite not having a degree. That enough is proof that a degree would not be the basis for whether you will become successful or not. And according to Ben Walker, the CEO of Transcription Outsourcing, entrepreneurs only needed big ideas, motivation, and money for a startup. In 2010, the founder of PayPal named Peter Thiel, lured 20 college students to drop out by offering them $100,000 and focus on being an entrepreneur instead. He succeeded in his plan, and one of the students that he lured was Mark Zuckerberg. Getting into college will cost you a lot, so why not use it instead as an investment for turning your idea into a reality? As long as you have the determination and you know how to take risks, you might be one of the most successful businessmen like them.
Regardless of the possibility of becoming wealthy and successful like Zuckerberg or Gates, the chances are low. The number of billionaires who do not have a degree is only 16%, according to the analysis of Forbes. For an average person without any connections to a well-known entrepreneur and do not have enough knowledge and skills to create something big, going on that path could be difficult. Not everyone can do what they did, not everyone has the privilege to get highly educated at a young age, and not everyone has a connection with someone from the business world. In the end, college can still be a good investment for others as it can widen a person’s capabilities, intellect, and even networks.
College is not for everyone, and not everyone is for college. The definition of the word success is not the same for every person. Some may call themselves a successful person because they succeeded in making lots of money and getting tons of recognition. Others may call themselves a successful person for the simple things they have achieved. Though there are some instances where a degree is needed for some jobs, attending college is not the only available path to take to be able to step into your future. Do not listen to the pressure given by society, not even to your family that forces you to become a doctor or an engineer. Do not fear all the judgment for the reason of not being able to finish school. The most important thing of all is having a concrete plan so that you will never get lost no matter what path you are taking. Of course, trust yourself. Every movement is a risk, so do not be afraid to pursue what you want to do with your life.

Saving Mother Nature: Schools Should Use Electronic Textbooks to Save Paper

Day’s generation is at crossroads, rapidly advancing and observing transformations of technology that fundamentally change how they access and read the written words. A significant revolution of printed books towards digital textbooks has been known in the world. According to The Wall Street Journal (2010), “an electronic book (also e-book, ebook, digital book) is a text- and image-based publication in digital form produced on, published by, and readable on computers or other digital devices.” These are books that we have access to in our mobile phones or tablets, and we can find these books on websites like ePub, iBooks store, and many more. Using different kinds of technologies can lessen or eliminate the used of paper in the environment. Hence, schools should need to be eco-friendly, leading them to save paper using electronic textbooks as a substitute for printed books.
Bringing technology into classrooms has had a positive impact on the quality of education delivered. Students and teachers unanimously agree upon the benefits of using electronic textbooks in education. Electronic textbooks eliminate the extra costs of shipping and delivery, not to mention most online textbooks cost about 50-60% less than print versions. Thus, it can save money and use the extra funds to invest in teachers, additional resources for students, or after-school programs. They are more environment friendly compared to printed books. “Aside from the 16 million tons of paper it consumes each year, leading to 32 million fallen trees annually, the industry’s carbon footprint is enormous.” (Industry Sights, 2015). Moreover, an electronic textbook is easy to carry around. Instead of carrying a bag full of books, it is easier to carry a mobile device supporting ebooks. Most students these days always carry a mobile-based device. A digital textbook’s portability allows students to refer to their notes and course materials anytime they want. Instead of carrying multiple books, students can now have everything in one place. Furthermore, Over 50% of the world’s population has access to the Internet. Yet we all sometimes have trouble with connectivity and network issues. To ensure that the Internet connection does not hamper the learning process, mobile devices, these days, offer offline services (Harman, 2018). Students can now download any content they want and save it on their device and go through them later at their convenience. Online textbooks have been a major convenient to people, especially instances like the COVID – 19 since students have a hard time buying and having printed books. Despite its pros, electronic textbooks also have some cons on it. Students of all ages are used to accessing social media and online entertainment frequently. When Facebook and YouTube are just a tap away from study time, it can prove too tempting. With the little separation between education and leisure, frequent online distractions can disrupt study time and hinder academic progress. Also, using electronic textbooks can hinder or hurt our eyesight since students will stare at their technologies all day to study. Thus, leading them to have eye strains from staring at the screens too long can become a health problem. Some students also read in the dark, causing them to have screen insomnia, which cancels out a benefit of using electronic textbooks.
In conclusion, schools should use electronic textbooks instead of printed ones to save paper as this can help the mother nature and benefit people from its given conveniences, like the cheaper cost, the easy accessibility to use, and the offline access that it brings along. Although there are some cons in using electronic textbooks, it still outsmarts the printed textbooks in more ways than another.

I tried everything, I read Quran, I prayed, I made isteghfar, I had shower, I walked out, I read from a book, I listened to some melody, I read motivational notes but nothing is working! I lost it literally! I said it before and I'm repeating it I'm tired I'm tired I'm tired, and I'm tired and exhausted from telling this again and again! I'm disgusted by myself, I wanna end this, I want to rest! My friend is doing her best to help but you know what? I'm tired of telling her that I'm going through the same shit each minute and in unexpected time. Ya Allah!

Wasn't it better if they kept this desire to see each other hidden within them, and never actually got together? That way, there would always be hope in their hearts. That hope would be a small, yet vital flame that warmed them to their core — a tiny flame to cup one's hands around and protect from the wind, a flame that the violent winds of reality might easily extinguish.

20 things i learned in 2020
(inspired by shannon barry)
at a moment’s notice, in the blink of an eye, from one second to another, everything can change. there’s no preparing for it sometimes. just accepting it.
being apart doesn’t mean we lack togetherness; there are a multitude of ways to forge connection with someone aside from physically being with them.
it really is the little things – never underestimate just how healing a warm walk or reading a good book can be.
empathy is still a foreign concept to many so surround yourself with people who care about more than just themselves.
just because the world stopped spinning for a few months, doesn’t mean time stopped moving; the months may have bled into each other but that doesn’t mean we were living in an endless march - october still came and it blessed us with orange leaves and crisp skies. july brought the fireworks it promised it would. december still came with christmas. it may have felt different, but it was still there.
don’t be afraid to stand up when others are telling you to sit down; don’t be afraid to shout when others are telling you to be quiet.
the people in your corner will save you in more ways than one and maybe, just maybe, you’ll be saving them too.
you don’t need a reason to do your makeup or wear a fancy dress. look like you’re going to prom in your backyard, eat mcdonald’s with your face beat. who cares? “just because” is always reason enough.
that thing you’ve always wanted to try? do it. instead of starting your thoughts with “what if i” or “i could just” – do it. nothing’s holding you back except for you.
the world will turn upside down in more ways than one and you are going to turn with it; all you can do is hold on tight and go with the flow.
it’s okay to be scared, it’d be scarier if you weren’t.
injustice doesn’t stop because the world stopped; hatred will always be loud and ugly and it’s up to us to turn that pain into promise through education and action.
being alone doesn’t have to be lonely. learn to fall in love with spending time with yourself.
we’re all connected in ways we never realized and we affect each other’s lives in more ways than we’ll ever truly understand. we’re all connected someway, somehow.
just because it seems like everyone else is hustling, doesn’t mean you have to as well. move at you’re own pace.
don’t stop taking pictures just because things are ugly now; one day, you’ll look back and be glad you did.
we haven’t lived through a chapter of a US history textbook – we are still living through one. just because the page is turning doesn’t mean everything is changing. be patient.
you’re allowed to just be. you’re allowed to just exist.
don’t stop chasing happiness just because it’s harder to get a hold of.
keep trying. keep fighting. keep loving. keep living.

Hello, lovelies! I’ve gotten a couple of asks about studying so I decided to condense them into one post for you guys! I’m trying to hit a bunch of different topics so if you need an even more specific post you can send an ask! Without any further ado, have some tips! My studyblr is @spacey-scholar
Prep
First, you always need a good base for your day! Especially if you’re studying a lot.
Make a good full breakfast! Ex. Eggs and Toast, Smoothie and fruit, Pancakes and a cup of juice.
How’s your hygiene? Do you need to shower, brush your teeth, wash your face, condition your hair? Do it! You’ll be distracted if you feel messy!
Get dressed like it’s a normal day. Staying in PJ’s is okay! But being ready for the day seriously helps focus!
Likewise, your space should be clean. A clean space is a clean mind! Remove dishes, trash, scrap paper, and extra items. Wide down your desk, organize your pens and books. Your space should feel like your space!
Now make a list of what you need to get done! What needs to be done Now, what needs to be done Soon, and what needs to be done Later?
Order your list how you want your day to go, and don’t put super-tough subjects back to back, or subjects that are similar exercises i.e. reading thirty pages of two different books back to back is no fun.
The Studying
It’s important to buckle down with No Distractions! If you find yourself distracted put your phone away! If you need your phone, put it on Do Not Disturb until you’re done. I also do this at night for better sleep.
Pick the best technique for you, Pomodoro, reward-based, group studying, etc.
Play music but only if it will not distract you! If you sing along or daydream it’s the wrong music! Classical, Lo-fi, and White noise are all good! My Spotify Here has some good ones.
Use a nice journal (I don’t mean expensive!) and pens/pencils you enjoy using. I like to have a specific journal and color dedicated to each subject.
Take notes on recorded lectures and classes, if you’re doing online classes right now try to screen record or record the audio! That way if you space out you can play it later and take notes, and you can absorb the lesson better instead of being distracted.
Don’t worry about your notes, stationary, pictures, being beautiful and your grades being perfect. Life doesn’t always look the way it does on Instagram. And the people who spend hours trying to get a good photo of their coffee are not studying!
Use flashcards! Quizlet is good if you need premade ones! If you can save up and buy them, Barrons AP Flash Cards are the best in my opinion. Very clean, not too long, very durable, and cover all subjects.
Feeling Distracted
If you catch yourself drifting off and getting into your head, get up and take a quick walk, stretch, or energizer.
It’s okay if this happens, don’t guilt yourself! practice affirmation. The best and smartest still get distracted.
If you are drifting, why? Are you hungry? Tired? Thirsty? Bored? Get a snack and some water, take a break and rest, find a way to make your studying more enjoyable.
Remember that Motivation and Discipline are different things. Sometimes we just won’t be motivated, we won’t want to do it and it will be rather frustrating. But the cure to this is not shaming its discipline. Remind yourself “This may be hard, and I may not want to do this, but I want to reach my goals and If this is what It takes I will make it happen.
Always do just one more page of you’re tired. One at a time and oh you did it! Maybe just one more? One more? Eh, one more just to finish the train of thought, Oh just- I’m done? Nice!
If you really can’t focus just move on and come back to this subject, you can always ask for help.
Supplementary Things
There are so many apps you can use to study, for free! My favorites are Tide, Quizlet, Focus Keeper, Forest, Flora, Egenda, SpanishDict, Photomath, and Kahn Academy.
You can also join a study group! You may know one, but if you don’t, there are a lot of online ones! I’m in a study Discord and have been for a while! it helps a lot and motivates me to finish my work!
You can make a studyblr, but don’t do it just for the aesthetics! It’s about studying, and sometimes that gets messy! Sometimes we fail a test, we spill our tea on our notes, we cry because we don’t understand the formula. That’s the part you don’t see!
Having cute stationery can really help, as well as nice organizers and decorations for your space! I don’t have much money so I get a lot of stuff on Amazon or FB Marketplace.
Health
Remember that no matter what you are good enough. It’s okay if you fail, it’s okay if you struggle.
It’s also okay if your path doesn’t go the way you expected! Maybe you go to a different school than expected! Or choose a trade instead! Maybe you take a gap year! Maybe your passion changes! Maybe it changes six times!
Your health is always more important than your school. If you are in pain, mentally or physically, if you are anxious, exhausted, burnt out, talk to your teachers about it! You matter more than a grade.
Your best is good enough! And your best doesn’t look the same as someone else’s best! Don’t compare!
Now go get out there and study!
