i've said it before and i'll say it again. lord huron might fuck around and be the best band of all time. their new album is themed around a mystical reality-shifting jukebox. kristen stewart monologues on the lead single over a super crunchy bass. the imagery is always vivid, stories always told, themes interwoven, concepts unique and full of depth, music tremendously listenable and nostalgic but also engaging and fresh. you will rock out and cry and contemplate every life decision you've ever made and be transported to a world that's just a little stranger and a little more magical. they have a song about a vengeful evil zombie and also one about a chill ass zombie, both on the same album. literally no other band does anything remotely like them it's incredible

ok so i was on tik tok earlier and saw a video of punkanomics. and there were people in the comments even as recent as yesterday commenting about how it was a "humiliation ritual". and istg people are just throwing that term around now everytime someone does something a little silly without any actual thought for what they're talking about.

because as we all know, cm punk would never dress up as his enemy to take the piss out of them

and he would never try to imitate his enemy while dressed up as them either or do their dance

And he wouldn't dress up to take this piss out of an enemy on the indies either

And he wouldn't dress as and imitate his enemy even if he wasn't on air

He wouldn't even dress up if it only meant doing something small... like wearing the undertaker's hat...

or del rio's scarf...

Or Jerry Lawler's crown...

Or MJF's scarf...

Or Cena's sweatband

And of course he'd never dress up as part of a disguise to get to an opponent regardless of it was in WWE or AEW

Or even on the indies...

And he wouldn't even dress up on a house show, even if it was just in reference to where they were or if it was a silly costume or something

Hell, he wouldn't even dress up at a house show even if it didn't get recorded by the audience

And he wouldn't dress up for halloween, even if it was just a shirt and halloween trunks, or even a mask

In fact, he wouldn't dress up for halloween even if wasn't on tv, even if it was a couple's costume

even if it was just a bit of face paint

Or just at a party whether it be with his own mates or a wwe party

And speaking of face paint, he'd never wear that even if it was in honour of another wrestler

He wouldn't dress up for promo stuff whether it be sfx makeup in wwe...

And he wouldn't wear a strange costume for TV, whether it be for a fictional character...

A reality show...

Or an online video or a party...

He wouldn't get his head shaved and have to hide it

He wouldn't steal an outfit from one of the girls

Or wear a wig

This man wouldn't even go as far as wearing an oversized jacket to look like a commentator

And of course he'd never dance

Or look silly online

And he would never get covered in *ahem* slime

He wouldn't do a half naked dance

And he wouldn't sing

Even if it was carpool karaoke

Even if it was for Chicago

Or a meme where he didn't really need to try

Or for a sports event

Or to be creepy

And he CERTAINLY wouldn't rap

sooooooooooo yes with all this evidence of punk being such a serious wrestler, he'd never in a millions years suggest or agree to a promo like the punkanmics promo so it must be a humiliation ritual, right? 🙄

In wrestling they don't say "I love you" they do your signature move in a high stakes match against somebody else showing how your presence in their life has changed them, how your movements have found their way into their own muscle memory, and how in their moments of desperation in search of personal valour they look to you, perhaps without even realising it, and I think that's beautiful
