I tend to think Tokoyami is pretty self-critical and because his classmates are so baller, he honestly doesn’t give himself credit so he’s like “meh” about his progress.

Like, imagine that Tokoyami isn’t even aware that he’s super self sufficient because in his eyes, he totally reaches out for help the appropriate amount. Asks his teachers for pointers or training or his teammates for their advice and he’s like “Yes, okay, I’m receiving so much support. This makes up for my lack of experience and general youth.”

Meanwhile Aizawa pulls him aside at some point like, “Okay, Tokoyami, you’re doing good. I feel like I need to point out you just went into a dark training room alone for 2 weeks and came out with 3 new power moves and blew up a bunch of ppl in the practical exams to the point it was kind of embarrassing. Now you’re saying you can basically turn Dark Shadow into Godzilla at will. I mean…”

“Apologies. I will try harder.”

“No, that’s not what I’m saying.”

Still trying to figure out what style to use for my comics so here's some messy work in progress. I usually write the script as I'm sketching and paste it in, feels more natural.
