100% yes to this
Killjoys is so great, and without any effort, I’ll tell you why:
First of all, this lady right here: Dutch. Amazing. The lifeblood of the show, a strong and dynamic woman with equal parts toughness and heart.
And our trio of main characters, the Killjoys. Two brothers and Dutch. This show had ample opportunity to do love triangles a few times, and they NEVER go there. It’s so refreshing.
They start out with episodic one off cases as bounty hunters and then BOOM! MASSIVE PLOT ARCHING MULTIPLE SEASONS. THINGS FROM CASES CONNECTING. BAD, MYSTERIOUS PEOPLE. WHAT? YOUR RELIGION IS REALLY A CULT WITH SECRETS TO FIGHT THE BIG BAD?!?
The witty banter. There are moments that will have you on your knees, sobbing, and then there’s moments where the team is so fluffy and silly, you cant help but grin.
The outfits. The drama. The interesting societies of the handful of worlds they deal with. This is not a space exploration show, it is very grounded in one place. Once you get the lay of the lands, it’s a great commentary on the imbalance between rich and poor, and corporate interests in controlling lives. And all from the world of bounty hunters!
PREE! My favorite bartender/former warlord! He starts out as a glamorous bar owner, and as the show progresses, you learn he’s just as badass as the Killjoys.
FANCY LEE. THE ASSHOLE WE NEED. Half the witty banter of season two is this guy. (He is also the most attractive character IMO, so I live for any of his scenes) I’m a sucker for “good guys” who balance on the line between good and bad. S'all I’m gonna say.
Complex, diverse relationships. This show does romance so well, despite big, shitty things going down. Characters handle things in ways that dont always make me want to throw the TV out the window. They have beautiful and honest moments. There may not be happily ever afters, but it feels so real and refreshing.
Ugh just…Johnny and Dutch’s friendship gives me life.
This is the scifi show you’ve been waiting for.
And it has been green lit all the way to its final season, the fifth (it’s on the fourth rn).
WATCH KILLJOYS.

Top 10 Supergirl Characters of Season 3 (as voted by my followers)
#6: Winn Schott
Like, I could be the next Steve Jobs. Or I could make a rocket for NASA. I can build human transportation to another planet, show Elon Musk how it’s done. Like, I could. Like, I’m ready. And I think it might be too late.

So true, makes it one of my favourites right now.
One of my favourite things about Killjoys is how they constantly subvert expectations, but specifically fictional expectations. Like for example, hot muscly guy gets left in charge of a group of cloistered-away girls, and you think, oh god, here we go with the cooing and the “oh look a Man” and the flirting and the swaggering. But what happens? We come back a short while later to find that he has learned all of their names and taken on the role of mother hen, telling them to stop crying and put on their shoes.
Or character A has a secret and lies to character B about it and you think, oh god, here we go, this is gonna be angst and drama for at least five episodes and then another three once she finds out about it. But wait, no, he tells her of his own volition by the end of the episode and she’s already forgiven him for it because she gets it and she’s not going to waste time on being dramatic about it.
Or oh hey look we found out something new and weird about this character but, y’know, we already know he’s kind of weird, this is like the third weird thing about him, so let’s skip the freaking out and move straight on to how we can use it.
Like it’s sci-fi, and it’s ridiculous in some ways, but when it comes to the characters and their motivations and interactions it’s like someone looked at the common fictional tropes and went “hang on, REAL people don’t all behave like this”. I LOVE that. I think it’s honestly the #1 thing that takes it from “enjoyable sci-fi action with banter” to “favourite sci-fi show of all time” for me.

Just watched series one yesterday and can't believe I didn't know this existed. Sadly netflix Netherlands just has two series of it currently.

Okay, so this is not the usual stuff you see on my blog and I bet most of my watchers don’t know this show, but honestly? Killjoys is just finishing its third season (no news of renewal yet but it’s a strong possibility) it absolutely BAFFLES ME that it is not more popular among Tumblr crowd.
Seriously. This show is so much better than most people give it credit for, especially from season 2 and up. Go and watch it now if you like any of the reasons below:
Totally bad-ass WOC lead and her two male sidekicks who are absolutely aware that they are sidekicks and have no problem with it whatsoever.
Bounty hunters in space. If you miss Firefly you should really watch Killjoys.
Female empowerment. Women are absolutely amazing characters. Ladies run the show behind the scenes as well.
No sexism or racism in the universe. Diversity in race, ethnicity, sexuality.
Healthy approach to sex. Casual hook-ups are fine, so are relationships. Or multiple relationships. Polygamy is okay. Pegging is cool. Total respect for sex workers.
Gay warlords. Gays in space. So much gay and it’s totally normal - no one even bats an eyelash at all the gay.
Unusual approach to religion. Masochistic (hot!) monks.
Science and nerds save the day as often as brute force and soldiers.
The show knows what it is and can make fun of itself pretty often. They don’t try to pretend to be something they are not.
No fake drama for the sake of drama! No terrible secrets that characters hide from each other for three seasons. Conflicts get solved fast.
The team is a family. The guys are actually related. The female lead briefly hooks up with one - it doesn’t last, but it doesn’t ruin their relationship. For the other brother she is a ‘boss/wife/platonic life partner’ (as said in the show). They all would go to hell and back for each other.
