hi I trust ur judgement with my life so I was wondering if you’d be willing to share ur fav Percabeth fic?
bro would I ever! the talent in this fandom...unmatched. I actually don’t think I can narrow it down to just one favorite, so I’m going to be really extra and give you a list!
I know I follow most of these authors on tumblr but if I didn’t tag you, I’m so sorry - it’s because my brain is empty and I can’t remember what your url is here/it’s not listed on your AO3 profile.
canon fics where we actually let the characters process their trauma that never fail to fuck me up:
Stress Fractures by Lleavingwonderland - short but really poetic and beautifully written look at percabeth dealing with the aftermath of tartarus
Impossible Year by @bananannabeth - annabeth breaks up with percy bc she thinks it will help them heal after tartarus, angsty but in the best way *chefs kiss*
Flaws by Romanitas - post tartarus again bc i can’t help myself, just some really good percabeth dealing with their trauma and figuring out how to help each other
transatlanticism by @nerdylizj - post tartarus percabeth separating and then finding their way back to each other, pretty sure this fic has fucked me up more than anything else I’ve ever read. it really left me vaguely sad for DAYS after I finished it, it’s that well written and that good.
Lessons in Love by @ananbeth - percy and annabeth move in together in college and find out it’s not as smooth sailing as they assumed it would be! really well written and really in character!
until your feet hit the floor by @bipercabeth - an ideal world where we actually let percy process the events of tlo and annabeth comforts him, this one honestly lives in my head rent free to this day
Aftermath by Roselightfairy - did you read blood of olympus and think that it was odd that percabeth was so sidelined? or that a bunch of things that they did didn’t make sense? this fic honestly fixes everything. it goes through the entire last book in that series and gives us percy and annabeth’s perspectives in a way that allows you to pretend that book made sense. it’s magic!
AUs that are good for the soul:
Apartment 305 by @couvers - starting with the most iconic of all AUs I’ve ever read! College AU where the perspective switches from Piper to Annabeth chapter to chapter, and somehow we’re over 100 chapters in and I’m still just as hooked as I was at the beginning! Amy also updates with this superhuman posting schedule, and my weeks are literally measured out by which days we get apartment 305 updates. So worth the read!
when the sun came up (you were looking at me) by TheWritingManiac - mortal AU where annabeth breaks up with percy and wakes up stuck in a time loop the next day, this one is a real journey and an absolute banger
beautiful by xogray @bbyannabeth - coffee shop au where percy is deaf and annabeth learns sign language for him, the vibes are so sweet, it’s immaculate
gravity in the words we write by JillianEmily - the high school fake dating au to end all high school fake dating aus, I loved this one sm
A Second Chance by @percabethica - AU where percy never came back from calypso’s island, the titans won the war, and annabeth became luke’s right hand...until percy turns out to be alive and takes annabeth with him to join the resistance. I’m actually OBSESSED with this one, seriously on the edge of my seat waiting for updates
Merry Chrysler by @ananbeth and @blackjacktheboss - percy goes home with annabeth to visit her family for the holidays, and ends up pretending to be her boyfriend. I’m a slut for any fake dating christmas AU but this one is next level
Love Me, Won’t You also by @ananbeth and @blackjacktheboss - high school romeo & juliet AU that...idk if I can put into words how absolutely iconic this one is. they made a whole ass WORLD for this fic, where annabeth and percy come from two families who hate each other and live on a small island in greece. it’s got the most realistic enemies to lovers I’ve probably ever read, it has some really cool ways that tie the canon into the story, and there’s secret dating, it literally has everything you could want.
Riptide by @blackjacktheboss - am I just obsessed with @blackjacktheboss? yes absolutely. this one is a superhero AU that’s got a really interesting premise that ties back to the canon really well, it’s got great action and romance, and it’s fucking hilarious! like don’t try to read this in class or something bc you’ll bust out laughing. and then somehow within the same fic there’s also a ton of really beautiful and heartfelt moments, just all around incredible!
if i were to pluck on your heartstrings by @seaweedbraens - soulmate AU (which, if you like soulmate AU’s check out this author, there are so many really good soulmate AUs that I actually had a hard time only listing one on this) where different colored strings connect you to the important people in your life. I don’t want to spoil it by explaining anymore but this one is GOOD okay just go read it right now!
Afraid to Light the Fuse Again by Ms_Understood94 - this one is an AU of the Black Mirror episode Hang the DJ, and I couldn’t stop reading it, even though I thought I knew everything going in, it was a really fun ride!
good god i know it's dangerous (but it's you that i need) by @biclarisselarue - 🗣️ IT’S THE OFFICE RIVALS AU 🗣️ I honestly can’t get enough of this one - percy and annabeth are office rivals who turn into friends (enemies?) with benefits, and the whole thing is just *chefs kiss* I can’t recommend this one enough, honestly.
and I’m actually a huge fan of hitting that ‘bookmark’ button so if you’re looking for more fics, I have like 200 here!

Fandom: Percy Jackson
Pairing: Percy x Annabeth
Genre: Song fic (Taylor Swift's Sparks Fly)
Summary: Percy Jackson had always done something to Annabeth. It was something she couldn't put a name to for years. But it was definitely a spark of something. Written for the Percabeth discord's "Story of Us" fest
Percy Jackson was a force of nature in everything he did. It was clear to Annabeth the day she watched him defeat a minotaur completely untrained with nothing but a sword. As a warrior, he was fierce as a cyclone. When he defended, he held the fury of a hundred hurricanes. Even his love for his mom was something intense and impassioned, like a riptide dragging anyone in its way undertow. And from the moment he arrived, Annabeth knew they would be on a direct collision course. He was the one; he had to be. The way he fought with instinct? There was no way he wasn't the hero of the great prophecy. Part of her was terrified despite all the years of hoping, praying for his arrival. Now faced with the truth of her future, the inevitable, Annabeth felt the overwhelming urge to run. Running was her default. But there was no running from the gods. From prophecies. From him .
So she stayed by him while he healed, fed him ambrosia, even attempted to get a few answers out of him. The boy was completely clueless, though. Thank Aphrodite you're pretty , she thought harshly as she watched him pass out again. He clearly wouldn't be a child of Athena. Good , a small part of her heart whispered. Even she had to admit he was cute, but she tried to push that away. Her mind should be focused on the quest and the stolen item, not if the new kid was cute. Not memorizing the slopes of his face. Definitely not thinking about those sparkling green eyes she had only a glimpse of.
Instead, she distracted herself by analyzing his fighting style against the minotaur. It did the job, but it lacked training. His stance was entirely too narrow, and the way he wielded that sword was nothing short of atrocious. And she wasn't at all jealous that he defeated a freaking minotaur on his very first day. Not. At. All.
Perhaps that was why her words were hard and bitter later that day when she looked at the minotaur horn and told him that he drooled in his sleep, then silently cursed herself the entire way to Cabin Eleven. Her words were still biting when Chiron brought him back to her. When had she lost the ability to be rational and speak? This raven-haired boy was doing something to her. Something she seriously hoped he couldn't see.
—
A son of Poseidon. She had thought about developing a crush on a son of freaking Poseidon. It must have been a true testament to how little Athena paid attention to her that she wasn’t struck down immediately for the fleeting desire. Her gaze flickered over to his form, alone at the Poseidon table, almost feeling sorry for him. Annabeth hated seeing anyone forced to sit alone at a meal. Even if he was a dirty rotten son of Poseidon.
The small glimmer of pity she felt for him vanished the moment she overheard Chiron send him to the oracle. Of course he'd get a quest. Five long years of praying, begging for a quest, constantly being denied, and his first summer, the son of a Big Three was granted a quest. And an extremely important one, too! Annabeth was determined to get herself on that quest, somehow, someway. She would not sit back at camp. Even if it meant working with a son of Poseidon.
She was prepared to fight her point, justify her presence on the quest, but when he called her Wise Girl, her cheeks flushed while her brain short-circuited. No one ever called her Wise Girl except Clarisse. The way Percy said the nickname was nothing like the daughter of Ares, though. No venom, no bite. Perhaps fondly, even , she wondered. The flush staining her cheeks deepened at the thought as a shot of pure energy ran from her toes up through the top of her head. Her hair was standing on ends, she was sure of it.
What was this boy doing to her?
—
Something about Percy just felt comfortable, like the home she never had. Perhaps it was days of exhaustion or the closeness of the truck, but Annabeth felt safe with him. As she opened up, telling him about her family and how she came to Camp Half-Blood, she wanted to lean into him, lay her head against his shoulder, and take every comfort he gave her. What she had finally admitted to herself was a serious crush rooted deeper in the dark of that animal transport truck as she promised to fight by his side, no matter what her mom did. Because he was her friend .
—
It was finally her chance. Maybe even her last. After years of brief moments wishing he'd kiss her or she could kiss him, even one desperate kiss on Mt. Saint Helens when she feared never seeing him again, here he was in the middle of a Manhattan street, asking her to kiss him. In front of basically the entire camp. Why didn't she take it? Staring straight into those captivating green eyes, her mind screamed GODS YES even as she sent him on his way with a sarcastic remark and possibly her whole heart. If he died before she made good on the promise, she may never forgive herself. But it was her way of telling him they would win, that she believed they would win. Gods, she hoped she was right.
There were moments she thought maybe she was wrong, so very wrong. Perhaps she had over-estimated their own defenses and underestimated the brutality of Kronos's forces. Watching as Percy fought Ethan who she was sure knew of Percy's weak spot, a moment of terror nearly drowned her as worry crept in that she would forever be haunted if Ethan took the shot. Haunted by the what-ifs, haunted by the missing moments, haunted by the single request she turned down. She knew those green eyes would turn accusing and haunt her dreams every night for eternity if he were gone. She would go down to the Underworld alone if necessary to give him that kiss.
—
The moment her lips touched his, everything faded. All the scrapes dulled, and her aching body faded into the background. His kiss took away every pain, physical and emotional. Winning the war was great. Coming back to camp as champions of Olympus was exhilarating. But sitting next to the lake kissing Percy, on his 16th birthday no less, just felt right .
Camp was a blur after that. A blur that included lots of dates to the strawberry fields and even more kisses both above and underwater. As much good as there was, the pain came too. Too many burial shrouds and pyres to burn. Election of new counselors in cabins that no longer had one. But as new campers came in claimed and alive, hope spread through camp like Greek fire.
On the eve of camp dismissal, Chiron announced a firework show to commemorate the truly astonishing summer they had all survived. It was the perfect ending. For years, Annabeth had shared a blanket with Percy watching the spectacular show the Hephaestus cabin created for the Fourth of July. But this time, Percy tentatively wrapped an arm around her shoulders, refusing to meet her eye when she looked at him with a smirk. As the fireworks lit up the skies, Annabeth found her eyes drifting to Percy far more captivated by the way his shone with each explosion.
Walking back from Firework Beach hand in hand, a drop of water landed right on Annabeth’s nose. At first, she thought it may have fallen from the trees overhead until another hit her forehead, then another landed on her shoulder. Before she knew it, they were caught in the middle of a full on rainstorm. And Percy was grinning ear to ear.
"What are you doing!?" she shouted over the pelting rain. “It can't rain unless someone makes it, Mr. Son of Poseidon.”
In seconds, the rain had saturated her hair, pasting it against her face. Even his hair was wet as tracks of water ran into his eyes. With a swift tug, Percy pulled her into him and kissed her soft and slow.
“I've always wanted to kiss you in the pouring rain,” he admitted. “It's romantic, right?”
A laugh burst from her as she looped her arms around his neck. “You're impossible, Seaweed Brain!”
And the smile he shot her filled her stomach with sparks. White hot explosions of fireworks. From the beginning, Percy Jackson did something to Annabeth. It wasn't the butterflies Selina always gushed that Beckendorf gave her. No, this was more like a spark, hot and burning. Pure electricity blazing through her body. Like ambrosia, he could heal her of her deepest ailments, accompanied by the undercurrent of burning up. He could take her down with a single blow. His humanity may have been grounded in her, but her feelings for him was her own Achilles’ heel.
“Hey, Wise Girl,” he called to her, pulling her out of her thoughts. The troublemaker smile she loved split his face when her eyes met his sparkling green ones, full of life, full of mischief. Full of love.
“Yeah,” she breathed, finally remembering he'd called her. But his smile widened as he tugged at the grey curl that clung to her cheek, the mark of their shared burden.
“Nothing. I just like looking at you.”
“Seaweed brain,” she mumbled just before he framed her face, pulling her in for another long kiss.
Heat flooded her like a jar of Greek fire. The white hot sparks electrified her again, and she was sure it was a feeling she'd never get tired of. It was like a shot of adrenaline straight to the heart, focusing her only on Percy. The smell of sandy beaches and ocean spray, the slightly salty taste of his kiss. The tingle of his touch where he caressed her cheek.
Every day with Percy, the sparks flew.

hey. what if hera didn't hate annabeth? what if she didn't really ever hate percy, either; just couldn't trust him. just some thoughts. what if it went a little more like this:
Annabeth is strong and capable, and she aches to prove herself and take her life into her own hands. She's bold and carefree and yes, a little childish at times. Annabeth will hold a grudge, and she has the tendency to feel jealous. Hera looks at Annabeth, grinning after a spar, laughing carelessly, sitting in her bunk and wishing she didn't miss her family so much... and Hera sees herself. Little Annabeth is a spitting image of Athena, and Hera can recognize that Athena is all the good and all the bad of Zeus, born from him only. Athena is just like her husband; the pride and the vanity, but so is Hera. It's been an eternity and Hera knows Zeus rubs off on her with every passing century. Hera is selfish and prideful and jealous, and so is little Annabeth. But where Hera hardly finds her good traits any longer, Annabeth is strong and good and ambitious. Those are things Hera can only remember feeling. So.. maybe Hera feels a touch of affection for the young demigod. Maybe she can't help it.
Things change when Perseus comes along. Hera's always been careful of that Luke kid; he was always sweet, but it felt like there was an edge. Perseus, on the other hand, is a steady mix of kind and good and loyal; there is no edge to how he feels for others, just some abyss in his heart where the end of his loyalties should lie. Admittedly, that makes Hera even more cautious. It's just... "Perseus" comes from her husband; the name, at the least. Hera would never wish her marriage on anyone, and especially not the little girl she sees so much of herself in.
And then Perseus starts getting quests. One after the other, near constant, and he brings Annabeth along with him. Hera knows how the hearts of mortals can twist in affection. They spend enough time together, and a bond is bound to form. It doesn't help that Annabeth watches Perseus trick their foes with pride. Secretly, Hera thinks that sons of Poseidon shouldn't be so quick to plan. It is not the bond Annabeth forms with Perseus that is Hera's primary worry; it's what those quests are shaping Perseus to be. Heroes turn out arrogant and prideful or monstrous, and to be fully truthful Hera would rather Annabeth have a quiet spouse. One to compliment her ambition.
When Hera thinks of Annabeth as adjacent to herself, it's only reasonable that Perseus becomes Zeus-like in her mind. The entirety of the half-bloods follow him, and his orders. Perseus is set to fight the titan Kronos, just as Zeus did. Hera worries that he will begin to think as Zeus does. Perseus fights the titan lord and wins, and comes out alive, and he and Hera's little Annabeth share a kiss and...
Maybe she's been too harsh on the boy. Those endless loyalties of his are still there, even after besting the Titan King. Hera only needs to be sure; she can't let Perseus have Annabeth if she isn't sure he won't be like Zeus.
Well. Hera did say she wouldn't wish her marriage on anyone. It's not that it was always bad. Zeus didn't sleep around until all that pride got to his head, and then he decided he could have everyone he wanted, that he deserved it. That's when he became dangerous.
So Hera sends Perseus away. Wipes his memories. It's not like she takes away his feelings, or his pre-recognitions. It's only for a short period of time, anyway, and if Perseus messes up with all that pride swirling around in his head, perhaps Annabeth will understand. If Perseus is like Zeus, the relationship will end without any more interference. Perseus will show both Hera and Annabeth who he truly is, and then....
But the boy remembers Annabeth. Hera left him his feelings, his pride over his victories and his emotions- and a tie to Annabeth as well. Perseus pushes the Roman girl away from him, tells her he knows he's in love with--that he knows he will always love--his girl Annabeth, even if he can't remember his own last name.
Perseus gets his memories back the next time Hera can feasibly let them out of her grasp, because she can't justify holding them any longer. Annabeth is given a token by her mother, a suicide quest, and Hera boils in rage. It is one thing to ignore Athena's coldness towards her children. Ignoring this "quest" is something else
Perseus falls into the abyss of Tartarus for Annabeth, and Hera learns why Perseus's loyalties stretched into a bottomless pit where Luke's had come to a cliffside.
Hera will tell the other Olympians that she orchestrated the switch to unite the children. She doesn't mention her fondness for Athena's daughter, or her husband's child Jason who had been fighting for too long. Artemis will come to Hera after her speech and sigh and raise an eyebrow. Artemis knows; it was Hera that brought her attention to Annabeth, after all. Artemis asks if Hera will try and "save" little Annabeth again. Hera thinks that maybe Annabeth is no longer so little, and maybe she isn't the only one with the girl's best interests at heart. Maybe, she can depend on that "Percy" to protect her girl's heart.
Hera would never wish her marriage on anyone.
But this bond she can bless.

while I do like the added dialogue between Sally and Percy in the minotaur scene, namely Sally's speech to Percy telling him to hold fast, I really wish the scene had more of the urgency that it did in the book. Like Grover's heavily injured to the point of incoherency, Sally and Percy literally have to drag him up the hill, and that's when they're overtaken by the minotaur. In the show, having them all come to a grinding standstill and Grover being fully alert like "sorry I know we're being chased by certain death but your mom's human so she can't come :/" was kind of adflksadfjasdf
oh and in the book Percy doesn't immediately pass out. Instead, Percy doesn't let himself until he's hauled Grover over the boundary line and all the way to the big house because he needs help and it's only then does Percy finally collapse. and idk just the imagery of it all -- Percy crying for help, for his mother -- it always stuck with me and I wish they hadn't taken it out.

oh and ANOTHER interesting thing that Riordan does with Percy in the tartarus chapters to never ever bring up again is Percy achieving seemingly impossible(?) physical feats.
Like when Percy kills Arachne, he does so so quickly that Annabeth can't comprehend it. She literally asks him "How did you move so fast?" and he just shrugs and is like "Gotta watch out for each other right? Anyways..." and immediately changes the subject.
Then later he jumps over a river with Annabeth on his back and again, right before it, she's like "How are you going to do this??? It's twenty feet across. How can you possibly do that?" and he straight up is just like "yeah I can do it just close your eyes" and then does it???
of course these moments happen during Annabeth's pov so we'll never know for sure but its just so fascinating cause Riordan goes out of his way to indicate that Percy was displaying strength, speed, agility, etc way beyond his typical threshold while also implying that not only was Percy aware of it but he was either trying to downplay it to Annabeth or avoid discussing it altogether.

headcanon that the younger campers go to percy or annabeth for advice and lessons on how to fight so the two put on a little demonstration, but then their competitiveness gets the better of them and it turns into an all out sparring match where they’re smiling across crossed swords and throwing taunts back and forth until annabeth’s finally got him pinned down. she helps him up and they look back at the crowd they’ve attracted without even realizing it and everyone’s looking at them with slackened expressions and wide eyes and percy and annabeth are just like “what?”
