I have spent over 10hrs here working. I've literally spit my coffee out out of laughter and cried out of happiness just after confirming a model that is a complete dream to be able to work with. A commission I did a minute back for Ragan Asarobot. It was for her best friend named Michaela O'Malley. Michaela suffers from severe scoliosis, the spinal halo in the drawing directly reflects her health issue. The symbol on her arm is for friendship and the symbol on her hand is for transcendence. Together, these symbols signify that she has had the power to transcend with the support of her friends and family. The flowers on her spine express her healing process and her ability to grow and thrive throughout her battle with scoliosis. An older piece "Angelica" oil on wood. This painting narrates the personal story of Angelica. Both figures in the painting are Angelica at different stages of life. The background version is timid, slouched over, holding a Swiss Army knife, while in the foreground she is confident poise and holds a tattoo gun. Angelica struggled for many years with a compulsive skin picking disorder called Dermatillomania. She used tools, such as a Swiss Army knive, to pick at her self but as she grew into her self, she redirected some of those same impulses to the more creative and positive outlet of tattooing. Slashes of red symbolize fallibility, on the past version, as splashes of blue represent spiritual growth for the present figure. The pattern on Angelica's legs symbolize the grounding energy that she feels from a pair of boots she has worn throughout the many varying stages of her life.
