every piece of star wars canon that involves han solo really just further confirms that despite his very extreme attempts to cultivate the image of himself as a cutthroat, selfish, money-hungry loner who looks out for himself and his wallet alone he actually imprints like a baby duckling on anyone he spends more than five minutes in the presence of and would sacrifice anything for his friends and i have to say i love it and he is the most character for this. truly ahead of his time.

So Bail, get this, Bail Organa sends some ships to an Imperial-controlled planet. And those ships get stolen by The Rebel Scum. Bail goes ‘how dare you let my ships get stolen I demand full compensation’ and the Imperial Senate goes ‘ohhhHH of course of COURSE we are SO SORRY here are your credits Mr. Senator Organa sir’ and Bail, get this, Bail uses those credits to buy MORE ships and send them on Relief Missions to planets Suffering From Rebel Presences and those ships get STOLEN right out from under the Imperials’ noses. How could this be??? The INCOMPETENCE. In THEIR GREAT EMPIRE.

And Palpatine, who knows Bail had tea on the weekends with Obi-Wan Kenobi, has seventeen different reports on his desk every week telling him that the Empire is compensating Alderaan for losses sustained on Imperial planets and he’s seething as he signs them because he just KNOWS it’s never an accident and he’s actually funding the Rebellion but he can’t do anything about it because Bail, when asked about it, just presses a dramatic hand to his own heart and says, ‘why, Emperor, I have NO IDEA how The Rebel Scum keeps acquiring my vessels. Maybe if YOUR security forces were more effective we wouldn’t be in such a TRAGIC situation so often. Sign here.’

bail and breha organa are so in love that people can feel it parsecs away. like remember that time when padme saw how bail called breha "her majesty" and padme's heart sink a bit, and that time when leia said that they could understand each other with looks and that they shared souls, they're SOULMATES your honor

a wip wednesday bail/breha: the early years sneak peak ! (they are dating but kinda on the DL, bail isn't a republic senator yet but is a politician on alderaan, and breha is still princess)

Breha arrived to the Senate building just after Bail, dressed in full princess regalia. She greeted the senators warmly when she was led back to their office. (Breha and Bail agreed to arrive separately for the appearance of propriety. Perhaps it was overkill, but Breha also thought there was a good chance she would accost her handsome partner if they took a speeder together with him in that suit.)

“Have you met Bail Prestor, Princess Breha?” One asked kindly as they approached Bail and the other senator. 

Breha almost laughed, but kept her serene composure. "I make sure I'm aware of all of the members of Alderaan's congress. My family has been quite impressed with Mr. Prestor's work, this bill included." 

"Please, call me Bail, your Highness," Bail said smoothly. Breha detected a hint of amusement in his eyes. "And truly, it's an honor to represent Alderaan in any way I can." 

"Well, Alderaan is very lucky to have you, Bail," she answered with a sly smile, before turning her attention to the others diplomatically. "We're lucky to have all of you."

"Alderaan is lucky to have you and the Queen as our leaders," Bail deferred with a smoldering look.

Breha focused a bit too intently on him, but she couldn't help it. "Don't forget the Viceroy," she said cheerily, as if it was a joke for all present. "I can only hope to find a partner who loves Alderaan so much. Our people deserve the best." 

"As do you," Bail said, voice low in a way that left Breha ready to swoon. 

She kept her head, though, and merely smiled, letting the conversation turn to something less… flirtatious. And she kept her distance from Bail after that—at least until she saw her opportunity in a small alcove outside of the entrance to the Alderaan Senate pod. 

"Breha," Bail scolded after she kissed him soundly, though he couldn't hide his grin. "We agreed to behave, didn't we?" 

She giggled, wiping her lip stain from Bail’s mouth. "A kiss for good luck," she insisted. "It's a big occasion for you." 

"For both of us." Bail smiled softly, before turning amused again. "Luck doesn't explain your behavior before."

"Oh, come now, you found it funny too, didn't you?" Breha grinned. "I know we keep things… quiet, but most of Alderaan know we're dating. I wasn't expecting to be introduced to my partner." 

Bail laughed quietly. "I guess news hasn't spread to Coruscant."

"And thank the Force for that," Breha added. She quieted, listening to the bustle around them from their secret place. "Alright, back to being new acquaintances."

"Yes, my Princess," Bail murmured; the devotion in his eyes made her bite her lip. No time for kissing.

And I just don't think we talk enough about how fucking awesome Queen Breha and Senator Bail Prestor Organa are.
